So I am trying to decide what armor pieces to get...Tailored Dragon's Breath (Cloth) is made from Nimbus Root and has 18 sta, 18 wis and 18 int, plus 50 health and power (no resist yet, supposed to be added).Woven Dragonhide (Leather) is 20 sta and 20 wis with 70 health and power (plus resists).Xegonite Reverent (Chain) is 15 sta 16 wis 16 int with 50 health and power (plus resists).I am tempted to go all cloth... except I already die quick as it is.

Soloing/grouping i would go chain. Raiding i always go with ROI unless im really in need of resists.

I noticed as well that the leather seemed to have the best stats. ( wis, health, pwr ). So does this mean that we are being pushed to wear the leather rare until we can get the fabled chain?

Any other ideas?

Crafted stuff is generally not as good as dropped armor anyways. My T6 armor served me just fine till I got dropped Legendary. People that immediately upgrade to crafted armor are just throwing money away imo.Vestment of the Devout, class specific hats, Flayed Vultak Leggings, these things are easy to get over the course of a week or two. Why bother with crafted gear that is designed to be inferior to these drops? If there is a piece or two you are missing that is just abyssmal, sure. But the strategy of getting a set of crafted armor when you ding 62 is a flawed and wasteful one, imo.

Agreed in the T7 case. though in the instance of T6 I found that the cobalt was better than most other stuff I could find. I have such a mixmatch of T7 stuff to get my wis up and it works very well... but I keep the cobalt because well I'm kinda [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] -- I like my armor to match. I also have a set of the scaleborn chain too - but for serious healing expeditions I pull out my mix match.

Btw I like my bear head - and the nice thing is I don't have to see it all the time if I don't want to -- I love the /showhood command hehe

I didnt even think about getting T7 crafted armor for more than a few seconds. 16-20 wis, low power/health, crap resists? No thanks.

If you were raiding T6 you should have much better gear. If not, there are lots of easy-to-get legendary drops and egg-crafted things to grab, as mentioned before.

So now with lvl 70 I've got like 470 wis, 270 sta, 3k mitigation and good resists - solo, and thats with no relic armor pieces or T7 fableds yet. (except Mark of Awakened Intellect)

I go for the highest mit I can get, provided it has any wis on it, and even that's not critical.

highest mit, provided the eq still has at least a few stat bonuses. I don't get armor without stats.

I am going for mixed armor - just trying to maximize power pool as well as WIS number. Mitigation? Well, if something hit me it doesnt really matter if I have 500 MIT more or less.

In my expierence I have found that the druids and the shammy's don't really go for "matching" armor as we ususally go for the most wis / pwr pool. I have always basically sold my soul for more wis and pwr. When I hit the lvl cap I then go for int and str so when I do solo I have some *umpf*. Though this is coming from someone who has 3 sets of armor in her bags at all times. I change it out depending on wha tI am doing. If I am going in an really hard zone it doesn't much matter if I wear chain or cloth, I get hit I'm gonna go down in a couple of hits anyways. I still have my cobalt ( just can't seem to get rid of it yet ), set of Scaleborn, some mix match leather peices, and then the set I wear most of the time.

When I raid I have found that having the extra set of "back up" armor with decent wis has been a life saver. Nothing worse then having to call a raid short ( after 4 hours already ( yea usually Lab ) ) because your healers have gone nakie.

- Happy Hunting

Personally I wear only chain, I like to take as much of a hit as I can when needed.

Well, I just went shopping for my defiler and have ended up with a mis-match of cloth, leather and chain. I just went for as much WIS as possible, but this is because I always group on her. If I ever soled her for any significant amount of time, I would rethink and try and eek a bit of extra spell damage and, HP and Mit.

Guess its all about play-style.

Yea Landaros it is totally about Play Style. Like I stated before I USUSALLY group with my defiler, but when I do solo I like having the chain - though I have been lucky enough to have a ful set of chain that actually has pertty good wis on it - I am currently capped at my wis ( and it still will be when I ding 70 ( in only 15% YAY!!! *ok done tooting my own horn* ) ) so I have looked for peices to increase my int and sta without losing my wis stats.

I definatly have my soloing equipment and my healing equipment. But like Is aid if you are gonna raid at all - I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY suggest having a back up set of armor.

- Happy Healing

I'm in the chain only camp on this one. I just like the look I guess. It always bothered me when I see healers in cloth. Makes me think they are trying to be dps. While I'm here has anyone found a good pair of chain gloves? I've been using colbalt for about 18 levels and I think they are starting to rust :smileyhappy:

Hmmm - the MIT vs STATS vs Resists debate

I'm just starting out with my Defiler at the moment, however on my main (Fury) I have always have 2 sets of armor, one which is set up for solo/duo and the other set for groups/raids. I am also working on getting together a third set of gear for high resists to use on specific raid targets.

Cloth armor gives crappy mitigation, leather a bit better, but chain will give you the best MIT

Cloth armor usually gives good INT and WIS, leather STA and WIS, chain lower stats than the others

Cloth armor usually has some good resists, leather has similar level resists, chain has lower resists than the others

If you're going to have mobs getting in your face (solo or duo) then cloth will end up with you dead very quickly, high MIT is a good way to go, therefore chain.

If you're in a group or raid then you should not be taking hits (in theory) and so are better off focusing on gear with better stats and resists, which is usually leather or cloth.

Keep in mind that jewelry has some nice stats and resists as well, and that can be used regardless of if you wear chain, leather or cloth.

Also, a lot of the MIT, stats and resists are dependant on what type of armor you have. Handcrafted armor is never going to give you the best of those. As soon as you can afford it (or survive the quests for it) get yourself good armor. eg Tier 4 Master Crafted Armor (level 32) is better than most Treasured Tier 5 (level 42) armor. If you can afford to, try and get Master Crafted as a minimum for your armor. As you hit Tier 6 and 7 you will want to upgrade your gear to fabled or better.

With your armor choices always check your personal stats before making a decision - there's no point getting a Tunic with +20 WIS if you have already maxed the WIS cap, also remember that your self and group buffs change your stats, so ensure you cast them before comparing armor advantages.

If you're solo then check to see how high your MIT is when you are buffed, if it's already looking good then you are better off focusing on INT to increase the damage you can put out.
