<div>I thought we had no AoE abilities, but I just made 32 and got an AoE dot.  I'm so happy!</div><div> </div><div>Until my dog died anyway.  I guess he's only good for about 40-60 points of damage before he bites it in a group. At 32 he has about 300HP so he goes out like a light.</div><div> </div><div>Wait, I'm happy.  I have an AoE. </div>

We get the poison AoE DoT first, another AoE DoT at 50 (which is great as it regens the group's power as well, but it also stuns you for the 30 sec duration, so... not too useful in actual play), and the new level 65 Defile AoE DoT.I suspect your favorite DoT will be the level 52 single-target Forced Cannibalize... the DoT damage is insignificant, but it also regens your power over the duration. You'll find yourself using it constantly <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

<div></div>I love forced cannibalize. And something just occurred to me: if we are not an AE class and Defile is a totally inappropriate spell, and if we'd wanted to play an AE class we'd have rolled warlocks etc etc yawn yawn: why is no-one complaing about aphotic corruption (I think its called)?

We were given the Blue AE dot because so many defilers went on and on about not being able to solo group encounters, or even solo at all.... defilers went on and on about not having any DPS. Well, now you do! We were given defile becuase of all of the stuff that defilers said they didn't like about soloing, and now that we have it, seems like lots of people are complaining that it doesn't fit in as a defiler spell.I think there are a few things about defilers that could be changed, but whats the point, every time the dev's give us something new or change something old because we all said we wanted it we go on to complain about that instead. Is everyone just never going to be happy? As far as our encounter only ae's, they are great so long as you are ot fighting raid mobs that require certian mobs to be mezzed ;pMaelstrom (of Dismay for T6) is a great spell to have for when your entire group runs low on power, canibalize is great for personal power. Corruption, like said above, is not meant to be a damaging spell... it is a debuff and will often times Interupt the mobs, which imo makes it worth using. My advice to anyone that is T6 but has not yet reached 70.... just hold on to all of your thoughts for now, get to 70, learn your new spells and then rethink whether the class is broken or it just isnt exactly what you are used to. I am not saying we are perfect, but i know from my experience that at level 65 I thought we got jacked and at level 70 I am happier than ever.<div></div>

I rather like the Defile spell (in concept anyhow, as I am only 63 right now and haven't actually used it yet) and I especially like the pet--- primarily since it gets mobs off me for a few precious seconds before it dies so I can do something and not be interrupted. What actually kid of concerns me is the t7 spell progression that I've seen so far. I have about 10 master 1 spells from t6/late t5, nothing else under adept 3, and of course the master 2 of the primary small ward, which wards against 1394 points of damage. I saw the adept 1 of the level 68 replacement and it wards for less than that. Granted, I have the master 2 along with every other defiler who's not an imbecile, but at 68 you'd think that at adept 1 it should ward for at least 2400 points, right? Some similar spell progression disparities have me a little concerned...
