1h/Shield or 2h for solo?

<div>Title says it all. What does wearing a shield and 1hander really do in this game to make it worth sacrificing the extra damage of a 2 hander?I didnt really notice much benefit when i was using one at level 10 so i started using a 2 hander. Was just wondering what the difference is.</div>

<div></div><p>when soloing. damage procs are king imo.</p><p>I take of my stat and other type of proc gear to put on my trusty iron wood buckler cobalt chainmail legs and other such gear. this way my dps goes through the roof. I was even lucky enough to get some enigmatic handguards with a sick aoe proc and i also have a belt with a lightning bolt proc (all those with 5% chance to proc over 200 damage) also have some other items with high dmg procs but only 1% chance. With this gear i've taken out named creatures that are practically immune to my regular spells (ie noxious resistance)</p><p>Coupled with the extra block rate you will have an easy time just healing and watching the dmg scroll. procs from my prismatic 1.0 make up for its low actual damage and i doubt a two hander could make up for the total dmg given by a procing shield and weap</p>

I used to use an imbued cobalt greatspear (now i've switched to hammer of the godking) for soloing. I don't really need the avoidance and imo as a defiler every bit of extra damage you can get is nice.I use the hammer now because it looks better (well, hopefully in a few days), since looks is ofcourse the only thing that really matters <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /><div></div>

<div></div>ya what they said. I have never ever found any 2hd weapons that equal  the damage/stats of a 1hd and a shield. Gota love procs.

I chose 1h and shield since this way I can get more WIS and power added to my numbers. Even though there are plenty of nice 2h weapons I couldnt find one where the numbers reach the values added up of the two item set
