I've been annoyed for a while now on the amount of fizzes my defiler experiences. I once remember reading that the amount of fizzes for heals/wards would be reduced signifcantly. The last few days the fizzes have been unbearable. After getting 5 straight fizzes on my single target ward (at work cant remember any spell names) and the tank dying last night I decided to tally totals. My sample may be small but my results horrified me.

These are my results:

Casts Fizzes To tal tries % of fizzes

Single target ward 76 18 94 19%

group ward 9 5 14 36%short heal 27 6 33 18%

long heal 13 2 15 13%

group heal 37 1 38 3%

Now all of these are adept 3 except single target ward is master 2 and group heal is master 1.

Am I off base here? Did I just have several bad nights of healing this week or are ya'll getting a large number of fizzes as well?

Message Edited by CrimsonAvenger on 01-27-200612:11 PM

Message Edited by CrimsonAvenger on 01-27-200612:12 PM

not sure about recently but i dont think any "master" spell should fizzle unless you are trying to attack Lord Nagy.

Well my ministration is only 281 but I'm only level 56. As far as mobs they were lvl 57-59 cyclopses but does mob level make any difference?

What other factors determine whether a heal or ward fizzles? Maybe I'm missing something here but the problem is so great that I average 1-3 fizzes per mob and have had at least 1 tank die to excessive fizzes.

when your skills are not maxed they fail more. Just keep on casting to get your skill up and you will fizzle less. Even 1 point can make a difference.

The mob level shouldn't affect your fizzle rate, but once the mob's level becomes higher than yours they start resisting significantly more often.

Message Edited by Ishnar on 01-27-200609:04 PM

Something odd that I just noticed on my 40 defiler... his single target ward is on the disruption skill 0_o dunno why, dunno if it's on any other single target ward, dunno if it's got some kind of effect on this issue or not, but there it is heh grp ward was ministration, but single was disruption

Not noticing fizzles but I do have a lot of masters - Master 1 Calam Shroud and Master 1 Putrid Balm I have not even witnessed fizzling and for Carrion Aegis Adept 3 and Sac Allev Adept 3, I am pretty sure none on Aegis and on Sac Allev they are very rare. No fizzles on debuffs but most are at Masters.

Heals and wards only fizzle if you really need em...

I don't Fizz often.. but I do have a lot of masters as well...

On the other hand.. when I do fizz.. it's like 10 times in a row.. then I don't fiz again for another week..

and yes.. it ALWAYS happens when the tank's about to die :smileyvery-happy:

I am have all masters , I would not say the fizz are Excessive, if you have your skills at max or over max for your lv. One thing i have noticed is that when the Fizz do happen they come in pairs quite often.

To the OP:

I also have experienced what you're dealing with. I have masters of all my heals and wards and my skills are max for level.

I typically see it with ST Ward and ST Heals and I normally see them happen in spurts. I can go a good thirty minutes and not have any problems. Then i'll be trying to drop a ward and a heal on the mt and i'll fizzle the ward and then i'll fizzle the heal right after the other. This happens to me on heroics and epics so I dont think "my" problem is based off level of encounter.

I was thinking it might be server side lag or something where server still thinks i'm moving but then I guess it would say interuppted......However I don't know if you've expereinced this or not but after fights sometimes i'll just randomly get damage effects and numbers but no health is deducted(not a poison or anything). It's like battle lag is catching up to me or something....hrmmm that would probably be an interuppt as well so i got nadda.

No clue.

I too am having the same problem as the OP. As with the previous poster, it happens on all mobs, with masters or adept 3's. it sucks cause it never fails that its when i need the heal or ward the most.

I have noticed the same thing with my defiler, more so since the last update, atleast that is how it seems to me. I'm not sure if it really is excessive or not, but at times it really feels like it. My single ward is the 54 master 2, and my group ward is the 56 master 1, my ministration and disruption are always capped, and I even started wearing that tunic from the bloodlines instance that adds 2/3 to disruption, ministration and ordination when I am not wearing my robe of the invoker. That boost to skills doesn't seem to make much difference though, what are the other items that add to disruption/ministration and have good priest stats?

I think one other factor might be when you acquire the spells. I notice I seem to fizzle more on spells I just acquired, my defiler is 56 right now, so my single and group ward are brand new. By 60 I think the fizzles might go way down, I hope anyway.

It just seems strange that my defiler would fizzle so much compared to my mage characters, who have no + to casting skills and fizzle once every 10 levels maybe.

Edit: Only wards fizzle for me, my cannibalize and debuffs never fizzle. Heh, wish it was the other way around. My heals don't seem to fizzle either, but I rarely have to heal.

Message Edited by Aaliel Stonefists on 02-08-200612:19 PM

Message Edited by Aaliel Stonefists on 02-08-200612:21 PM
