Any input into why I should use Degenerate Adept 1 18.2 Slow/12.5% DPS reduction/10% Resist vs Degeneration Master 2 - 20% Slow/12.2% DPS reduction/31% Resist?  Is the level 24 spell less effective against higher level opponents in some way that is less obvious?  Seems that a spell that is 3 tiers higher should better regardless of type.

<div></div>the only input I can give u on this matter is to use Degeneration M2 instead of Degenerate. I haven't seen the slightest difference in effeciency. I'm using the lower one since it's better and land as much as the higher one. But it would perhaps be wise to have it just incase they fix it because I'm sure they'll change it eventually. As far asI know or think I know, the spells should have a mob lvl limit so that the lower spells in the line shouldn't land on higher lvled mobs<div></div><p>Message Edited by Feanor Bauglir on <span class=date_text>01-05-2006</span> <span class=time_text>06:42 AM</span>

Use the M2 till you find or craft A3 or M1 of the high level spell<div></div>

<div></div><p>you know whats sad? I have MAter I Atrophy, and its better than Adept III degenerate...</p><p> </p><p>14 levels later and STILL better..</p>

I only think that is because Atrophy is suppose to be resisted by higher level mobs.  It's kind of a lame way to scale spells. It's basically the same slow spell but we have to upgrade it every 14 levels so that it will still land on mobs and each new version gets a different name.  They should have just named them like the nuke line.  The fact that your Atrophy does not get resisted means SOE has some tweaking to do with the resistabilty issue.<div></div>

I totally agree. Its sad that SOE doesnt put more effort into designing spells. You know immediately that every 14 levels you get the same stuff over and over again...<div></div>

Here is the final word on this, adding it to this post in case of a player search.<a target="_blank" href="http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=spells&message.id=9347#M9347">http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=spells&message.id=9347#M9347</a>

<div>The Master II pick Degeneration has been the true end of that spell line since LU13, just more people are becoming aware of it now.</div><div> </div><div>1. Pure percentage based spells do not become larger with spell level, only spell quality.</div><div>2. The ability of a mob to resist a spell is based purely on your casting skills, your level, the spell quality (Adept, master, app) and the difficulty rating of a mob.</div><div> </div>

<div>You are correct the Degenerate line does indeed upgrade with level, the Repulsion-Malignancy line however still does not all Adept Is do 24% and all Master Is do 32%.</div>
