<DIV>First off, I feel that I keep meeting the "this is terrible, cause I'm bored" attitude more and more often. Personally I've spend 4 years in EQ1, some time in Horizons and some time in FF XI. So far what I've seen of the entire gameplay in EQ2 is probably the most balanced in terms of all classes having a use and a need.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Second off, I can't believe how you can be bored as a Defiler ( essentially the shaman progression, as I see it. ). Yes, we keep getting upgrades to existing spells - but that's nothing new. I'd feel pretty dumb trying to keep the tank in a group alive with Spectral Ward and Minor Healing when I'm level 50.</DIV> <DIV>Under normal circumstances I'm plenty busy in a group: I ward the tank - preferably before s/he pulls. On incoming I slow, debuff - then ward again. And the rest of the fight is spend chaining HO's, warding tank, debuffing the mob(s) and patching/curing ( yes, it's pretty smart to cure your group members ).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The idea that spells aren't worth upgrading to App3, Adept or Master cause they upgrade themselves later anyways is equally shortsighted. Minor Healing ( Apprentice I ) heals for about 48 hp - the Apprentice III heals for 84 hp. There's a very good and valid reason for upgrading all those spells you can - as soon as possible.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>In terms of soloing: There's plenty of fun to be had and I solo even con's with little trouble - and the occational yellow, when there's none other to be had.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>In brief I find the class plenty of entertainment and fail to understand how "utility" spells should make it any more attractive.</DIV>

<DIV>Agreed.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>IMO, it's foolish to expect any radically new abilities to appear much after subclass selection.  By that point in a character's life, they should have all the abilities they need to play their role, and should be getting mostly just bigger/better versions of the skills they already have.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If people want more variety, they're welcome to start another character in a different class.  If I get bored of being a defiler, I go and play with my druid or necromancer for a while.</DIV>
