View Full Version : Pets ruined my mystic

<DIV>First it was the shaman dog and then it was the ghostly jumbo jet that came with the quellious pet. I'm really fed up with looking after both unwanted pets now. They have ruined my gameplay by being nothing more than a total burden on my already considerable responsibilities as a healer with slow spell casts. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I long for the pet-free days where I could cast all my buffs and know they will stay up all through the fight. Now I simply lose all my AP's and no longer recast my dog on the first death - its no longer worth the effort. As for my god pet, the group insists all god pets get parked or killed before I go any further since they severely restrict the gameplay area and continually get in the way.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I was enjoying my Mystic up until the point I got dog dog. Now its just completely frustrating. I wish I could get rid of him and my god pet and still have the few buffs they provide. I'm enjoying my Fury who has 49 APs that all stay up in a fight and hasnt progressed any god quests purely by choice. A pet free healing experience is so much joy now.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>My poor Mystic is pretty much retired now thanks to pets. Really sad. <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

Make the pet immune to AE by going down the STR line...also gets you a group haste, and a proc'd group ward.  This way, your pet won't die unless you send him in to early.  On the bad side, that proc'd group ward is likely to get him aggro on body pulls and get him killed if your tank is [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn].  As for Gods, Tunare anyone??  She is by far the best for priests - ask all the evil healers that want her <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /><div></div>

Tunare cloak is really good for a Mystic. With the Tunare cloak, Relic pants and a couple adornments my ST Ward is now over 2k.<div></div>

No doubt the dog is extremely annoying.  Why they felt compelled to tie so many of our AAs to it is beyond me.  You didn't say if you raid but if not you can certainly choose a less dog dependant AA spec.  Stack out the AGI line.  Melee crits (if you want) Heal crits (nothing wrong with that) both of those skills would have some group benefit.  Frankly, I think either of them has more <b>group</b> benefit than many or most of the raid utility that the dog can have except for very very difficult zones like nizara and CMM.  Even with the "AE immunity" at the end of the STR tree the darn dog dies....often.  Even when I haven't sent him in for an attack and it's just hanging around behind me the mysterious exception to the rule of AE immunity smacks him down.  Even when I don't even have aura of warding activated so there is no chance of a carryover ward...the dog still dies.  Even when...well you get my point.  I agree that the dog is frustrating.  Then to add insult to injury it takes 14 hours to recast it.  La la la, still casting...oh hey..wait up guys...la la la.  Woohoo time to buff it now...hey guys..erm..the hall repopped between us while I was dealing with the dog.  Can you um, come back and get me?  <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> That said, I still really enjoy my mystic.  The dog isn't a big enough factor either way to make or break the character.  It's an annoyance.   As for god pets..meh...take it or leave it.  I have chosen gods for my characters much more based upon the cloaks than upon the pets.  From time to time I even remember to use a miracle but those usually sit on my hotbar largely forgotten.  Mystics still offer some great benefits to your groups or raids.  Sorry to hear that the dog alone has pushed you over the edge to drop it.  <div></div>

<DIV>All precisely reasons why I ditched my dog and the AA lines that make use of her.  I am just truly sick of casting the dog and associated buffs after it dies or after the raid calls for all pets to be put down.  I don't even bother bringing the dog up anymore, and frankly its made raiding easier.  I got better, more useful abilities by going down the Shaman Sta and Wis AA lines, abilities that I control, not ones predicated on a pet completing some successful melee action. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Another thing that was nagging at me and couldn't put a finger on until just now;  There were no AAs in the Mystic line that support the dog?  I wonder why?  Well not really, but it is interesting that it plays no role beyond our first AA tree.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I would much prefer our other pet, the one largely forgotten<FONT color=#ff6600><FONT color=#ffffff>, be enhanced.   You know...</FONT></FONT>bearbear, (the healing pet, the one that offers no real numerical description of what it does), to be a pet we cast that stays up until cancelled and that it offer a 20% boost to our wards.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><U><FONT color=#ff6600>59 - Umbral Attendant  </FONT><FONT color=#ffffff>-</FONT></U><FONT color=#ff6600><FONT color=#ffffff> Summons a protective spirit which cannot attack but casts beneficial spells on the mystic's allies</FONT></FONT></DIV> <DIV>By the way, why after all this time do we still not have a real description of what this "pet" is doing?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><SPAN class=time_text></SPAN> </DIV><p>Message Edited by Hammarus on <span class=date_text>01-16-2007</span> <span class=time_text>11:20 AM</span>

<P>How are you guys parking the deity pets ?      The "STAY" button on my pet window doesn't work.</P> <P>I like that description - "Ghostly Jumbo Jet".     That's exactly what the ridiculous thing looks like.</P> <P><A href="http://mrrx.wordpress.com/" target=_blank>MrrX's Character Journal</A></P>

I think Quellious makes a fine diety choice. I tend to find that the thing holding my group back is power, not a little extra healing. There is a quellious abillity that give the group back a drastic amount of power. Tunare is definitely a valid choice, but I wouldnt discount Quellious either. <div></div>

I hesitate to choose any diety based upon the blessings or miracles.  I greatly dislike the idea of sacrificing items for favor, especially at the current rates of return.I'm totally choosing based on Cloak.  Therefore, I chose Tunare.<div></div>

<P>But ..but ..but <FONT color=#6699ff><STRONG>Banditman,</STRONG></FONT>  you don't like turning in old T6 fabled items that sell for 50gold and un-useable legendary items,  for a one time use, minimal effect blessing??? hehee.:smileytongue:</P> <P>Hehe, seriously though, they have their time and place. And they are much like the city merchant items that give you similar effects.  I just wish they cost as little as the city items.</P>

Tunare definitely has a better cloak for healers...but then again, theres nothing stopping you from 1)doing the Tunare line 2) getting the Tunare cloak 3) Blowing all her favor for miracles 4) Give up your allegiance to her 5) Do the Quellious line 6) Wear the tunare cloak but take advantage of the Quellious miracles Its a decent amount of work, but completley doable.  Im just too lazy. <span>:smileyvery-happy:</span> <div></div>

I feel "fairly" confident that we'll see that loophole close in short order.  I don't believe they intended people to have the cloak of one god while worshipping another.<div></div>
