my husband is enjoying eq 2, much to my relief because i really love it and want to get him into it. he is playing a mystic wood elf, and i would like to play something to compliment his class.i would like to stick to a good class because i (embarassingly enough) love to play a fairy. any suggestions? i have enjoyed illusionist and scouts so far, but i dont know what will compliment mystic the best.

Glad you used search, but I would say berserker right offhand. The combinate of tanking ability and DPS is great, and you already have the keystone of any group with a tank/healer combo.

I would say Monk or a caster class. Nukes burn mobs quick and wards rule

If you want to take on heroic content I suggest Zerker, Monk, or a conjuror. I had never played a tank class and started a zerker to go with my husbands fury and have been having a blast (level 60 now). The only downside to playing a tank is that upgrading armor, weapons and some of the combat arts is very beneficial if you want to take on heroic content. So it can be either expensive or time consuming (if you harvest your own rares). For a pet class upgrade a few spells and you are good to go. Necro/mystic combo worked like a charm for us.

if you go plate tank i'd say SK or Pali - all plate tanks are gonna go slow tho. if they know what they're doing a caster can work much faster with a ward-based healer - and be a lot more challenging/fun. but if you don't know what you're doing it can be a disaster.for example, my mystic used to duo with a coercer buddy for quite a few levels and it was awesome. being able to slow the target mob and ward the coercer's pet played perfectly with the coercer's other CC to make pet dancing heavy hitting yellow heroics very fast and fun.zerker is an obvious choice, but you're gonna appreciate the DPS output of the monk/bruiser later on. SK would be my preference for a plate class tho, as their DPS is really quite good and their utility is awesome.

I favor berserker, but that is just mostly because that is what I'm used to. Monks seem to be easy to kept alive as well. Brigands work well too, but they are evil. Swashy I suppose would work about as well, they have similar tanking ability to a brig.

I DESPISE doing anything with a conjurer pet as a tank, because I end up tanking more often than not. I'm not used to having to just stand there and heal, and it seems if I do anything more than that when a pet is tanking, he isn't tanking for long. =( I'm probably going about it wrong, or the conjurer is. But it certainly doesn't work too well for me.

Since you said GOOD classes only: Best: - Zerker is pretty good dps, and is wearing plate for increased survivability. Probably best option. - Swashbuckler is badass dps, chain. Both classes will be more engaged as rogue is not boring and healing a rogue will be a bit more challenging, especially lower levels. - Monk is good dps & survivability. However, the bigger the groups get the worse off you are vs. a plate tank. (Scales badly). Good: - Illusionist would be interesting. Fights would be slower but fun. - Paladin wont even have to taunt with amends hate transfer line. Good survivability, not so much dps. Mediocre: - Wizard: root & nuke strategy. - Troubador: low dps. - Fury can dps pretty well when they want to. if I had to pick my combo I'd play swashbuckler or illusionist because I already have a plate tank alt. For you I'd say you can't really go wrong with that zerker choice... If you want the best raiding (endgame) options to go Mystic, I'd say Illusionist and Swashbuckler and Troubador followed by Zerker & Fury. Monk and Paladin suck for raiding.

I team with my brother who plays a Berserker and it's been a blast. We've been able to handle most Heroic content ^^^ as long as they are not 3+ levels above us or Epic. Though I'm still learning how to heal him efficiently. Like when we do tackle hard content, I end up not doing any DPS at all (well maybe my little dog nipping at their heels) and just spam cycle wards on him which I guess is normal when we're surrounded....

I've come to like my Zerker/Mystic combo quite a bit. I'm able to handle heroics quite well and I can do very large groups of non-heroic mobs too. I've gone all the way up to 61 so far with this combo and it gets better when you get spells such as Oberon to keep you up in a tight bind. The debuffs that the Mystic class offers helps a lot too with the slows and DPS debuff being quite effective on cutting down on how much damage you recieve to keep your wards from breaking too soon.

A good monk and mystic combo is addictive - with high avoidance your wards will seem to last forever! Always been my fav though, of course, never had real problems healing any GOOD tank. Probably my next choice, if he's not commited to playing a tank class, would be a swashbuckler. They also tank very well in a pinch for a scout class and have the same avoidance benefits mentioned above, as well as doing a good bit of dps (pain in the butt to keep stunning the mob for backstabs, I know, having played both classes, but it can be done!)

(As a Monk/Mystic 2box duo)

One other thing to point out, is that I almost never need to use my mend. With the mystic casting the priest rez spell (so monk can rez the mystic) FD is awesome to survive, and if you have to, rez the healer.

As for stances, I find fighting green, blue, & white mobs I can use offensive. Yellow and Orange, and Green heroic I use Off/Def stance. The occasional orange con, plus heroics blue-white I use Defensive stance. This seems to work out best for me.
