i just rolled a mystic alt to play with some friends, and i have a few noob questions.1 i thought that mystics could get there sow up to 50% through AA but it looks like it goes up 5% with each aa for a max of 5, unless my math is way off that 45% just like a warden, is there somthing im not seeing? or is there somthing else you have to have to get up to 50%?2 do mystics get a root? if so at what lvl?3 its seems the higher i go the less effective i am. when i was 7 i could take 3 yellow mobs with no problem, now that im 13 i can just barley take three green mobs, and thats with healing my self untill im out of power.rest assured that ill be asking many more questions as i progress, and i thank you for any answers.

SoW is a 24% run speed, plus 5AAs at 5% each(25%)= 49% someone correct this math if I'm wrong, I didn't waste (IMO), AAs on the SoW ability. I got a free carpet instead.

No mystics do not get a root, we get de-buffs (aka. snarelike, kinda, not really, ......abilities?), to reduce mobs attack speed and dps. Really these are very nice. Im just joking around a bit. They really shine in group and raid encounters. If troubadors are the buff kings, then mystics(if your female i guess) are the de-buff queens.

Mystics are the one class that seems to be touted as a soloist, but is the furthest from. We are defensive in nature and thus prone to needing groups, dare I say more than any other class. For your information, and im sure there will be others who say im wrong, but we have the lowest dps of all classes, with templars a close second, (don't even get me going on furies!! Grrrr! *mumbles to self, why are they showing up on the raid dps parse*)

Message Edited by Hammarus on 12-11-2006 11:36 AM

What most Mystics who take the SoW upgrade are doing is carrying their J-Boots around in a bag hotkeyed. They SoW themself and hotkey their J-Boots for almost 60% run speed.Mystics are definitely not going to solo well. Sorry.

My take on the questions:1 - SoW base is 20%. Each point in SoW adds 6% runspeed and 5% falling damage reduction. Since 6x5=30 and 5x5=25, we get 50% runspeed and 25% falling damage reduction. As Banditman explained, most mystics carry JBoots too, so we toss them on to cap at 60% speed. (Note: The description is not accurate, says 5% when it's 6%.)2 - No root, but at least 1 attack does a snare (the direct attack, mind is completely blanking on the name currently). We get up close and personal with the mobs.3 - Yes, we're slow solo artists. We can safely fight single mobs, but it takes bloody forever to kill something. I daresay we have some of the lowest dps in the game. In both groups and raids, I'm usually pretty close to dead last in DPS and near the top HPS. Usually the lowest 3 DPS on the raid is the templar in third, the other mystic in second, and me in last place. If you go with a dps spec and get yourself a really nice weapon (like the templar has, she likes to show off!) you should do OK solo if you pay attention to what's going on around you.Hope that helps..

As a side note of interest as far as the Sow discussion.... the fae silvai form 5% speed stacks with SoW. So a fae Mystic in silvani form + j-boots (assume it stacks with both but never tested it) and the enhanced SoW would hit 65% run speed. Thats pretty fast. Either the SoW aa description is wrong or we're getting to much speed buffed and its bugged. It says 5% (I think) per point and I put 1 point in and I got 6% run speed increase so I'm not sure whats going on with it.
Message Edited by Omegarhino on 12-11-2006 01:23 PM

its actually pretty buggy. If you cast it on a group member and they disband then camp and come back or zone, it can drop back down to 20% displayed but keep the 25% safe fall. After zoning or some combat, it slows back down to 20% even though the tool tip says 50%. Sprinting will make it pick back up, but only to 40% I believe.
