There have not been many responses to my previous posts. As a new player in EQ2 who wants to try a healer, what would you say about a mystic? Pros? Cons? Thank you!

Play what you like. Don't make us a scapegoat if you don't enjoy your character in a couple weeks.Mystics are great healers. So are all the other Priests. Play what you like, your ability to heal will be relatively equal. If you want to play a HEALER and you like the way Mystics sound, play one.

Well this really depends on your play style.
Do you group?
Do you solo?
Are you going to be a raid healer?
Do you want to play a healer who heals for large amounts fast?
Do you want to play a healer who prevents damage?

What is your end goal with the character?

Like the others have said before, no one can tell you what class is going to be the right class for you but if you ask more specific questions maybe they can give you answers that will help you make your decision.

My mystic was born the same day my husbands zerker was. Healing for multiple encounters and my deagro spell were 2 skills I learned how to use real quick. My husband will often complain that he can’t “go all out” with other healers in a group like he can when he and I are in group. I’ve seen a few of the other classes able to keep him going but they have had to bust their butts to do it.

I think a mystic is a very powerful healer (or damage preventer). I think there horrible at trying to kill anything on their own and they have ungodly long cast times (IMO) but there fun and capable of great things.

I also like when healers want to start talking heal parce numbers and I can shut each one of them out of the parce with my wards, torpor and my dog (who shares my name).

Its really up to you, no one knows your play style or what your goals are. It’s a call your going to have to make for yourself. I enjoy my mystic, but then again there are those odd days I wish I had rolled a defiler =).

You have one character only, currently.

So make a mystic and try him out. For that matter, if you're that determined to make a healer and can't decide yet, just make five and skip the class that looks worst to you. Play each character up to 20, that should be quite a bit of fun and give you a feel for the whole question.

I have an absolute ball playing a mystic in a group. Trying to solo grind a mystic is pretty boring. I soloed my way through 1,200 quests and enjoyed everything except solo grinding levels.

Good luck.

MrrX's Character Journal
