<DIV>meaning I dont know any other mystics in-game.  Ive grouped with some in pug's, and some defilers.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Ive never played a healer class, and just started a mystic.  My question is what should I be doing in groups?  the mystics and defilers ive played with seem to do a lot of group healing mostly.  do mystics not do individual tank/dps heals? are they not considered a main healer?  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I also notice mystics and defilers can stand toe-to-toe pretty good with mobs.  so far im soloing fairly well, I just need to get used to healing myself.  I seem to have a good power pool.  Are our main stats INT+WIS?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>any advice would be great, but im more interested in specific duties in groups and optimizing myself for soloing and knowing my role in groups etc.</DIV>

Mystics can easily fill the main healing role, and they also make a fine second healer. What you are likely encountering is mystics or defilers being lazy.  We get a long casting time group ward.  In some content, you can keep everyone alive by simply spamming the group ward.  Its not very efficient, and with proper management you could be doing DPS or debuffing as well.  But it is an easy way to fulfill your role in a group, especially if you are being lazy and watching TV or reading while you play or something. Wis boosts a priest's power pool. Int boosts a priest's spell damage. The other stats are less useful. Mitigation on armor can also prove important for soloing. <div></div>

<DIV>The "being able to stand toe-to-toe" thing is pretty constant throughout the levels.  What will definintely change is the amount of time it takes you to kill whatever it is that you are standing next to. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>For single group content, every healer out there is well equiped to be the main healer. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>As far as stats go, Wisdom first, everything else a distant second.  The amount of damage that Strength/Intellegence actually adds to our DPS is a matter of some debate here.  My personal "parsed=out" feeling is that they are not that important. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Note: your strength will naturally be high, just based on our maintained buffs. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>well, so far it sounds like what Ive expected.  I'll give it a go, see if I like it.  My main classes are zerker and shadowknight.  I also have a wizard but i dont enjoy playing him as much because of lack of melee.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I may like this class, all I really care about is whether or not its fun</DIV>

Hope you enjoy it, we're here to help with any questions you might have.  Most of us are reluctant to answer "tell me everything about mystics" questions though as we could talk for about a year non stop on the subject. <div></div>

It's hard to answer general questions as well.  It's easier to answer, I do this, should I do this or that types of questions -- if that makes any sense. And, I'm on Crushbone.I learned a lot myself when I got different spells and grouped in different zones.  I know my play style adapted too.  After my play style adapted to fit that of a mystic and not just a healer I know I started having more fun.<div></div>

my only advice is dont be a mystic, we've been nerfed to hell, and we were already nerfed

<P>So being able to solo ward and debuffing all new EoF instances except CM is being nerfed...hmmm </P> <P>/scratches head...</P> <P>On a side note, we are mostly fabled and had a mezzer in the group.  :smileywink:   /derail off</P> <P> </P> <P>To the OP, play your mystic for a while. If you like it then keep playing it!</P> <P> </P> <P> </P> <P><SPAN class=time_text></SPAN> </P><p>Message Edited by Kaeth on <span class=date_text>11-17-2006</span> <span class=time_text>02:16 AM</span>

I dinged yesterday afternoon, soloing, in Lesser Fay. (Got 2 APs too!)  I thought I was handling it better than playing in DoF or KoS..... not sure how we were nerfed.<div></div>

<P>Thanks for the responses</P> <P>so far Im enjoying it, although I just hit level 10.  At this level with my new spells im consuming a lot of power, im also wearing imbued armor and weapon (twinked from my main).</P> <P>I will say that I wasnt aware that mystics have such high direct damage spells.  I really like this especially when they crit, its pretty impressive. Also all my spells are still app 1.</P> <P>hopefully i can get a group going with some guildies soon and get a better feel for group play.</P>

Everyone has nice direct damage under level 10.  Mystics can solo      well up until level 20      reasonably well from 20-35      poorly 35-50, makes you want to pull your hair out      50-70 is a little better if you have specced your AAs for the purpose of doing more DPS     <div></div>

<P>I'll have to look into the AA lines then for more damage dealing and compare that with damage spells vs. heal spells.  I havnt really looked entirely through the spell list</P> <P>to be honest, my main attraction to mystic was that they were casters, welcome in groups and could wear medium armor.  oh..and i have this thing for shamans also (not to be confused with druids)</P> <P>so far its very shamany feeling <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />  spells that look like giant snakes etc.. </P> <P>is our fluff spell at level 20 a green fog or is it a shapeshift?</P>

At 20, mystics get a self bear form illusion(+buff) and a self hawk form illusion(no buff). <div></div>

One of the best ways I learned to play a Mystic, and I'm not saying this is for everyone, was to solo.  Not just solo easy mobs, but anything and everything.  This gives you a chance to figure out what your spells can and can't do; what you can do in certain situation, i.e. one mob vs several.  Is it better to ward first or after?Similarly with a group the situation's are always different.  There is no better instructor then to go out and just do it; If people tell you that you are doing badly then stop healing them, lol, <span>:smileyvery-happy:</span><div></div>
