well the title kinda says it all. I know this question has been asked before but i kinda want a newer updated one, with some information on EoF as well. basically i know they'll heal about the same, but what about the rest of the spells? types of debuffs each one recieves? types of buffs? other fun or useful utililities? also in regards to EoF can either class roam around the new continent freely? or is it more "good" oriented where some spots will be KOS for the defiler? just wondering because i know a lot of people will be on the new continent when it is launched and i figured it would be a good social place where maybe groups would meet up and such, and just wondering if id hafta be careful if i were evil.<div></div>

I am currently a 70 Mystic, and I don't think I will betray because of this.Sure they will get 40% more ward with their single target ward, and more raw hp, but Defiler seems to be a one way street, or at least that's how everyone is making it out to be.I like our variety of buffs, our debuffs are fine and from what I understand our curing ability is alot better. Our Torpor and Oberon barrier make up for their increased st ward, and their once every 5 minutes oh sh*t ward. Oberon Barrier is about 2k less of a ward if you have master and the eof AA yes, you can use it just like defiler would use their 'uber ward' also. Just quick turn it on the tank or whoever, after it takes the initial hit, toggle it off and go back to your business, we can do that every 3 minutes. Torpor, Very nice spell to have for raiding, I use it on every pull unless it's complete overkill. I think that the cure line in our aas is somewhat unique, it will have it's uses for our AE cure, and Ancient balm specifically. But other than mentioned above.. both shaman are pretty much the same..p.s keep in mind, avatar, increased stamina on mammoth, and increased health on health/power buff will go up with eof, and our buffs will help the tanks reach the stat caps untill they get the most uber of uber gear. and don't forget about bolster.<p>Message Edited by predelta on <span class=date_text>11-13-2006</span> <span class=time_text>05:24 PM</span>

Keep in mind really that this another major change to game mechanics. The last one was LU13. No one knows for a certainty how Stat Changes, AP Changes and deity selection is going to pan out. There is no easy way to answer these type of questions because undoubtedly there will be constant changes to system for next 2-4 months.<div></div>

I think the Mystic/Defiler are going to be interchangeable for different situations. Mystics are going to get a major increase in Stamina buffs plus if you take the Enhance line there is an increase in HP as well. As for wards like all wards except the group ward can be cast outside of MT group so this may be the chance for the Mystics to come into the MT group. As for DPS if you rolled a mystic to do DPS then oh boy you were definetely cheated. Mystics will never be DPS and therefore hard to go solo for much. So on that hand I enjoy my Mystic, thankfuly wards were fixed and atm,I am sure on most servers, the shaman no matter which you choose,is a much needed class.

Portent, the defiler equivalent of our Foretelling, gives something like 900 raw hp and 400 some odd power to a single target, vs our 643 hp/721 power on Foretelling. Rapacity (defiler) is comparable to Spirit of the Mammoth, only it gives raw hp instead of stamina and some strength to the entire group. </font><font color="#ffff00">Malevolent Efflux is their version of Umbral Mettle, I'm not sure exactly how much raw hp it gives the group, but ours is 321. Overall, defilers give more raw hp to a tank and the group overall than a mystic. Defilers also have proc buffs that mystics do not have. Mystics give more stamina overall than defilers, due to the Spirit of the Mammoth line and Avatar/Ancient Avatar. We also have Bolster, which increases all stats by 20% and therefore gives a nice boost to hp/power ect. The EOF changes and Mystic AA lines (though sub-par) will even the balance somewhat between how much hp the two shaman classes give to a single target/tank, although the amount (due to diminishing rewards on stats) will vary. </font></div> <div>2: What's the difference between a Defiler and Mystic in a Shaman/Guardian Duo scenario?<font color="#ffff00">This one I'm honestly not sure of. I generally duo with a wizard, not a tank of any kind, so perhaps someone else can answer this for ya <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> </font></div> <div>3: What's the difference between a Defiler and Mystic in a raiding scenario? (2 group, 4 group etc)<font color="#ffff00">See answer to the grouping question above. As far as raiding, the difference between the two comes in two important areas: debuffs ( I cannot stress the importance of debuffs from both, if possible, especially on higher level raid mobs) and functionality. A mystic in general (in my experience with high end raiding) will never be used in the main tank group if a defiler is present, due to defilers giving more overall hp to the MT and the MT group. I'm usually placed in the Offtank group (for buffs and heals) or in the DPS/mage group (for cures, buffs and wards on the group as a whole, keeping the dps cured and alive.) </font></div><div>At level 62, I have 3 Ancient spells at Adept 3, but I haven't begun to sink money into other Adept 3's or Masters yet.</div> <div> </div> <div>Should I switch? (I really like my class, but all this talk about being second fiddle is freaking me out!)</div> <div> <font color="#ffff00">Honestly, it depends on what you want your role to be. If you're looking to be in the MT group buffing the Main Tank, ect, then I would say your best chance of that is to switch to a defiler, yea. It remains to be seen how the new AA's and EOF changes will change this balance. However, I wouldn't say mystics are second-fiddle. Our wards are important to other groups, Bolster can sometimes be a lifesaver and our debuffs are pretty dang nice, and can sometimes be the difference between a wipe and a clean kill (no exaggeration.) It's a matter of taste, in the end. I wouldn't switch myself, even if I do play "second fiddle."</font></div><hr></blockquote>Comments in <font color="#ffff00">yellow</font> <span>:smileyhappy:</span></div>
