<DIV>I have a 67 Mystic, and I have a question for all the other mystics out there that i hope someone can answer. What exactly does the Umbral Attendant do? I had the Shadowy Attendant or whatever and never saw it do much if anything when i cast it...so i didnt even bother getting the Umbral one. I recently was at a raid and saw someone casting it (we never got a chance to discuss it due to time constraints) so I am asking here, as I wonder if i should pick this up and throw it into my rotation or if it will benefit me in certain situations.</DIV>

Its an uber heal-over-time so to speak. I have mine at master one and it heals for around 240 every 2-3 secs for the 20 sec duration. I beleive I have the numbers right, not logged on atm, but catch my drift. I have this on a macro with oberon barrier.. heal pet up,oberon barrier up I'm stunned. Pet heals for the little bit of damage he may take although the ward is awesome. So the umbral attendant is a pretty good spell to keep using or start using in ur case, imo.

It's a very power efficient heal in certain situations. However, you need to be very aware of exactly how it works and it's limitations.First, the little bear/badger is the one who is actually doing the healing, not you. That's important because of the range involved. The attendant has almost NO range at all. Like 5m radius. Finally, it's group locked. So, the upside is that if you have a couple of players in your group standing right next to you, you can pop Umbral Attendant and get a nice HoT for everyone near you.The downside is that when there is any distance at all between you and what you want to heal it just doesn't work. We've asked multiple times to have his healing range increased so the spell would actually be useful aside from solo'ing, but received no response. One interesting idea would be to have the heal become unlocked - healing anyone in range regardless of group.<div></div>

<P>Ill definately get it then if it is a healing thing (the fact that it doesnt say it heals, always made me wonder what it does...because people rarely are withing the range when i use it, so small is the range.)</P> <P><BR>The problem with popping it and Oberon would be that means i have to be right near the mob...which is never good. but ill give it a shot using it, maybe it was the range though that made me wonder what it does, cause like i said sticking next to the mob isnt my normal deal when im Healing (cause damage comes in alot harder than it does on my zerk!)</P>

Myself or the other mystic use this on raids when we're low in power right after an AOE has gone off. Now the mob should only be on the tank, so throw up heal pet(umbral attendant) and oberon barrier and tank will hardly get hit. He still will get hit, but it now makes it easy for u to regen pwer while other healers don't have to chain cast heals to keep him up. The ward is an awesome ward in certain situation imo.

But if im in a raid, and im in the MT Group ... shouldnt i NOT be standing RIGHT next to the tank? I mean theres lots of Barrages, Riposts, and AOEs to avoid, True we're not Leather wearers but we aren't plate either. I usually try to be back away from the MT in Raid situations (for those reasons). I can think in a regular group though this could be really helpful and on raids especially if i'm in a non MT Group with people jousting, those who get hit by those AOEs, Barrages, and Riposts could just come near me and i wouldnt have to retarget and cast my heals on them, just one button and it does the work. Thats the benefit i'm thinkin of.

MT Shaman should not be close enough to the MT for this to work, no.In general, healers in a raid want to be right at maximum heal range on the MT.Attendant can be nice to pop right after an AE, but really, it's not that useful in raid situations. I took it off my hotbar a couple weeks ago after realizing I hadn't cast it in about 2 months.<div></div>

I usually just use it when I myself catch an AE or some other damage and need to be healed but dont want to go through targetting myself then the MT again. <div></div>

<DIV>Very informative, thank you Bandit! I have 5 hotbars as is, with space at a premium. I've recently taken to actually switching one bar back and forth so that would be 6, with a little room on that 6th and i was wondering if maybe this should be on there...but if it is so limited i might have to shuffle things a bit, because it sounds like something i can use in a regular group but like i said never when being in the MT group of a raid.</DIV>
<DIV>I use it pretty often.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Pop it after an AE, and along with the druid regen going, the group is back to full health in no time.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>This is not what you use to heal the MT, it is used to deal with the damage taken by the other members of the group.</DIV>

I was just saying that after an AE I'll pop it by the tank cause he has all the aggro anyway. Normally I myself am outside of the MT grp and our other mystic is in so I do use oberon at all, but the heal pet is awesome especially if you have mostly mages that are in grp standing around you anyway.
