L37 is nothing like higher levels. At L37 you do not yet have anything in the Mourning Soul line, nothing in the Attendant line, nothing in the Avatar line, nothing in the Oberon line. You have none of your ancient spells: Torpor, Slothful Spirit and Ancient Balm. You don't yet have Bolster.Mystic is like every other class, you don't have the full range of tools until L65.

I'd say there's a significant shift in the Mystic as you hit:

45:Shadowy Attendant

50 Oberon

52 Torpor

Less so perhaps with 47 Avatar, but its also a first of its kind spell for you.

These spells and their later upgrades diversify your healing tools a bit. To me, they made they mystic more fun than the 30's and lower 40's where I felt limited in my healing tools.

Because many debuffs are percantage related they will become relatively more powerful at higher levels. But that didn't cause me that much shift in my playstyle in casual groups and solo. Harder stuff I definitly notice I'm trying to hit the debuffs more.

Definitely. A level 37 mystic is nothing like higher level.Level 45 umbral attendantLevel 47 avatar (It's a good spell, also good for soloing, not just buffing your tank.)Torpor is a great spell! (Heal+ward+slow)I personally don't use oberon that much; can't decide when it's good to use...And to give you an idea, at level 55, another new spell line, slothful spirit - damage with power reduction.Another thing... my mystic started as an alt.. she became my main. (About mid 30s I was also a little bored with her but kept pushing cause I knew more powerful and interesting things were to come.)

Message Edited by Sillililygirl on 06-23-2006 09:34 AM

The tools you use change from 37 to 70, but what you are doing really doesn't. You debuff and ward, and heal to cover that. That never changes, you just get new toys to keep it fresh. As for the use of oberon, Ill go over it again, despite the many times its been said before: Oberon is very useful when these conditions are met 1) Situation 1 PvE Raiding and some grouping a) You have some back up healing. Either on a raid, or with a backup healer in group. b) The tank will be taking massive damage, so he needs to be protected on the pull. c) Aggro from the massive damage dealer would smush you if you used a normal ward to preward. Here, the fact that Oberon wards for a large ammount, and causes next to no aggro makes it very useful. The power efficiency is also helpful if this turns into a long fight. 2) Situation 2 PvE grouping a) You are down to about 10% power and know you can't keep up your normal healing rotation long enough to finish the fight. Here, Oberon's power per warding efficency is king. Also, if you are down to 10% power, the tank likely has aggro locked down so you wont need the flexibilty of spot healing other members of the group. 3) Situation 3 - PvP a) Against a heavily front-loaded damage class. b) You see them coming. Here, Oberon can soak up most of thier initial damage while they try to unload on you quickly. Torpor followed by Oberon can force them to waste alot of thier power.

OBERON IN PVPWTF?? imo bad idea, especially if you are solo pvp healing. amazing pve spell but if you are stunned anywhere in pvp you are at an extreme disadvantage

But very frequently when I have PvP'd, my opponent could not break through Oberon, and ended up wasting alot of power by the time they realized what was going on.

I could see how oberon would work because it would surprise your opponent.

I actually switched my Mystic to main, after I had leveled a Monk to 37. I am a healer at heart and the Mystic gives it a twist. I can't wait to get to 70. My main is 54 now. There are down times with the levels, but hang in there, you will love it.
