<DIV>Last night I was in a 2 group raid into Ascent last night. My group consisted of 70 Wiz, 70 Wiz, 70 Coercer, 70 Brigand, and 70 Ranger. The other group had 3 healers a Monk and Guardian. We killed both dragons and succeeded in accomplishing all of our objectives. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>However I felt totally ineffective during our raid...the 2 Wizzies and Coercer must have died a combined 25 or more times. I was trying to keep my eye on the MT in the event he needed Torpor or other help, but most of the time I was trying to keep these 3 alive. Their Mitigation was 1500+, 1500+ and 1800+ and they seemed to go from green to red in less time than it took to cast a spell. I started out trying to use my group ward, followed with group heal if any was needed and recasting the group ward as soon as it fell off or timed out...this didn't work at keeping them alive. Then I went to casting Ethereal Aegis (Master) from one to the other and back again as soon as the timer allowed...if a heal was needed I either cast Trancendence (if only small deterioration was showing on their health bars or Learned Healing and Rejuvenating Rite (depending on which was available at the time) if bigger heals were necessary. I tried casting Torpor on one then the other, then the other but this didn't work either.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>What should I have been doing...this is the first time in a very long time that I felt totally ineffective.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Purcupile </DIV><p>Message Edited by Purcupile on <span class=date_text>06-14-2006</span> <span class=time_text>09:25 AM</span>

<DIV>Since there are three healers in the main group, don't worry about casting torpor on the MT. I'm certain he'll be fine.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I don't know why the casters took so much damage. I don't assume that they grabbed aggro from the tank. In that case, it's part their own fault (unless the tank wasn't doing anything to keep aggro). If it's just pure AE, I can recommend the AA Strength line. Get spiritual foresight and Aura of Warding level 8 and send the pet in.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>For groupage healing, I've always liked the Umbral Attendent heal pet. I keep the group ward up at all times and use ST wards and torpor on those taking damage. Top off with ST heals.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Were they all level 70? If not, then that would be the first they should remedy.</DIV>

Ok, a couple things you need to know about Ascent x2 that are CRUCIAL.This is NOT an easy zone. Yes, the mobs start out green and are rarely even white or yellow, but they are still tough mobs with a lot of HP.Now, that said, I don't think you "failed" because of you, it was probably poor instructions / execution.I'll take a wild stab at it and say that your troubles started on the third floor. There is a BIG difference in mob abilities that starts on the third floor. The mobs there have an encounter locked AE. This AE is considered "direct" against all members of whichever group has aggro. For you, this means that dogdog dies. I don't even keep mine up once we hit the third floor, despite having the AE immunity ability. It's one of those "exceptions" to the rule which make life miserable at times.Further, it means that if someone in your group draws aggro, you entire group can die quickly and easily. Here's what happens:Someone in your group, perhaps the Brigand, perhaps the Ranger, perhaps a caster . . . doesn't matter who, but SOMEONE draws hate. The mob immediately turns and casts that encounter locked AE, which consists of a significant up front DD + nasty DoT.So, even if your tank immediately regains aggro, your group is already in trouble. Mystics no longer have a group cure for elemental, so you've taken this nasty DD that put a lot of people in the yellow, orange or red. Further, you've got a DoT still sitting there ticking off killing people who survived the initial DD.6kish resistance to both heat and cold *helps*, but it's still tough on squishies because they simply don't have a lot of HP to begin with.My advice to the group would have been "Stop drawing aggro if you want to live".This situation should not be a reflection upon you, but upon those leaders who fail to understand and explain the intracies of the encounters up front.<div></div>

You really only need two healers in the MT group anyways, a cleric and a shammy. Possibly a druid if you know you will get hit with an elemental AE, or alot of green ae to MT group. It would have been pointless for you to cast any wards on your group, mages would have ate them up without an issue. Would have been wonderful if you would have had a troub for your group, but other then that, what can ya do without the right classes, ya know? <BR>

And if you knew the encounter / zone you'd know that in fact the group with aggro does in fact get hit with multiple Elemental based AE's which are DD + DoT in form.Understanding the causes of the situation as well as the results is very important to making a proper suggestion.<div></div>
