<DIV>I curious about what differentiates mystics from other priests (including defiler)?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'm familiar that all priests have a small and large direct heal, a group direct heal, and a single target and group target specialty heal (ward, reactive, regen). But what does the mystic bring to the table after that (other than the specialty heal)?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'm considering a priest, but not sure which to go with atm. Doing research.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks in advance for your time!</DIV>

<div></div>Mystics and Defilers both get DPS debuffs and slows. And yes, they make a huge difference to difficult encounters. Defilers I believe have more single target debuffs than us, but lack AE debuffs which we have. If you're trying to differentiate between Defiler and Mystic to help make your decision, it's kind of tricky. We really aren't that different from one another, and are both welcomed and needed classes at the high end game.Mystics have great buffs to sta, str and agi for melee classes, though stat caps are more easily reached than ever, which can diminish their effectiveness. Shamans get a targetted hp + power buff - with clerics and druids it's either/or. Shamans in general are the best at counteracting burst damage, and reducing the impact of very large hits on a target, through the use of wards and debuffs. Depending on what achievement path you might take, Shamans probably have the worst dps out of all priests, Mystics in particularAs for Mystics vs. other priests, I suppose it boils down to whether you want buttloads of heals to keep people alive, or whether you want buffs and debuffs to play a part in your overall effectiveness.Wardens have arguably the fewest "utility" type spells (not many buffs/debuffs), with lots of heal power, although heavy healing has to be done over time, and they are not the best at dealing with burst damage. Furies heal just about as well as Wardens, with fewer heals relying on extra regen ticks, and faster heal casts. Druids don't have a single target health buff, but instead it's just power. Both druid classes have very respectable dps, which a shaman will almost never match.Templars probably have the most raw healing <i>potential</i>. Reactives deal well with multiple targets hitting fast but not too hard. They also have several proc type heal spells castable on both mobs and players, so a good Templar could essentially have heals flying non-stop during a fight. Recent updates improved priest dps overall, and Clerics can certainly dish some out now. Inquisitors heal almost as well as Templars, but instead of the extra heal proc type spells, Inquisitors have things like haste, damage procs and a couple debuffs. Inquisitors probably take more attention to detail and strategy to play than Templars, similar to shamans. You can't just hit a heal every 5 seconds....you have to stay on top of things for the most success. You might also want to check out these threads when making your decision.<a href="http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y53/Eirgorn/PriestBuffs.gif" target="_blank">Priest buff chart</a><a target="_blank" href="http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y53/Eirgorn/PriestDebuffs.gif">Priest debuff chart</a><a href="http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=spells&message.id=9434" target="_blank">Priest healing guide</a>Some of the chart info is still tier 6 but nonetheless very accurate, and a great way to see who casts what, and whether that's what you want to have. If a wizard is my tank, then the dps debuffs can help keep the mobs from blowing through my wards before I can recast them. </div>
<P>I don't know, but played with Defilers, and furies, and created a mystic to play. So far the mystic seems much the lesser over the other two I have played with. Our buffs don't seem to do much, and have to be cast on each player, so if you have more than four you get one Group buff, and have to cast on each of the others individually, taking up your concertration slots fast. So far at lvl 19, he has no attacking buffs, but defence buffs that do very little, and not what the info on them says. The only one that seems to help minorly is our armor buff which is a group.</P> <P>Using a master on my single target heal, a fury of the same level using an adept 1 can out heal me and quicker.</P> <P> </P> <P>Well he is a good provisioner for my main toon. LOL</P>

Mystics definitely improve with age. After about level 45 you get some great debuffs and the wards get better. But what makes mystics different is the focus on wards. Mystics aren't clerics; our heals cost a great deal of power. But well timed wards will impress your MT. :p<div></div>
