<div></div><div>Hi all, first time poster.</div><div> </div><div>First off, I'm a lvl 33 Mystic on Befallen and I have a few concerns.</div><div> </div><div>This is gonna sound silly considering my lvl but I don't think I've been warding correctly. From all I've been reading on here everyone seems to be able to do it so well but it's always a hassle keeping them up for me.</div><div> </div><div>Usually in groups we fight ^^^ heroics ranging from equal to orange (to me). I usually AE ward prior/during the pull then immediately single target ward the tank. I then debuff and lay on my DoTs and then reward and reapply DoTs as needed. The problem is I don't think I have the timing down on my wards still. Usually I wait for them to go down and then reapply them but by then the tank has usually taken a hit or 2 and is down to yellow.</div><div> </div><div>I just feel like I'm not very good at the job because from what I've read the tank shouldn't be taking as much damage as he is in my groupds. And if there are other healers I feel even less useful because their direct heals are usually more powerful than mine.</div><div> </div><div>Another thing that bugs me is whenever I'm in a quest group and we're fighting non heroics I feel even more useless. The mobs don't damage the tank enough to wear it justifies alot of warding/healing and by the time I put DoTs on the mob is dead, so I feel like I'm just being strung along and not really contributing.</div><div> </div><div>I was with some guild mates the other night (34 warlock, 33 sk, 35 necro, 33 mystic (me)) and we were doing some of foomby's HQ and were killing fairies and I just felt useless. I would single ward the tank (which was barely necessary) and by the time I engaged and put on DoTs the mob was dead.</div><div> </div><div>I know I'm not a DPS class I just wish I could find a way to feel like I'm really contributing to my group.</div><div> </div><div>I've tried making an alt but I'm in a good position with my guild with my mystic. I have like 4 other people right around my lvl to quest/group with and I feel if I focused all my attention on another character I would be left behind.</div><div> </div><div>So my main two conerns are 1. is there a better proccess of warding my group when fighting strong heroics than what I described and 2. what can I do when fighting weaker mobs for quests and such when there isn't alot of healing to be done so I don't feel like I'm just being strung along.</div><div> </div><div>Thanks</div><div> </div><div>Divin</div><p>Message Edited by Roscoe17 on <span class="date_text">02-12-2006</span><span class="time_text">04:05 PM</span></p>

A few points to ponder:1. What do the mobs con to THE TANK. It is completely irrelevant what a mob cons to you unless you are trying to hit it or land a spell on it. As a healer, typically you are not. Now, if your tank has the mobs con'ing Orange and Red, yea, that's gonna be an extremely hard fight because the mobs will ignore a good bit of his mitigation and avoidance. Post LU13, the best targets for experience are mobs that con yellow to your tank.2. What sort of mitigation does your tank have? The better his mitigation, the more effective your Wards are. Does the tank have a LOT more mitigation than you? If not, you've got a problem. In the case of a Brawler tank, does the Brawler have a LOT more avoidance than you? If not, you've got a problem. Not all healing problems are the problem of the healer.3. What quality are your Wards and heals? Are the App4? Less? You've got a problem. In general, you NEED Adept 1 level Heals / Wards to be effective. Better if they are Adept 3 or Master. Adept 3 / Master is a requirement for raiding.4. Stop trying to do damage. I mean it. Stop. The amount of damage you add is so miniscule as to be completely irrelevant. Yea, when you solo, you don't have a choice, but in a group, focus on your job of keeping the group alive. Other people make mobs die, you make players live.5. Consider the overall value of your debuffs before you cast them. In an EXP group, I typically won't cast more than one or two debuffs on any mob. It just dies too fast to make it worth it. A triple up lasts what, 25 seconds? I'll go with Haze and perhaps lead with 'X' of the Ancients. A Named, perhaps I'll go Ancients, Haze, Soul. Raiding is a completely different beast and debuffs are VERY valuable, so make sure you keep my comments in context.<div></div>

Recast the first one before the 2nd one is done. If the mob eats through both wards before they are ready to recast then the content you are in might be too much for your tank and having an extra healer would be a good idea. If you stack wards like this, then if you are in a group with another healer you will make THEM feel useless!</div><div> </div><div>As far as what to do on trivial content when the mobs go down faster than our cast times, well, not a whole lot to do in these situations except notice that other group members are probably having a similar problem and not using much mana either hehe.</div>

Definitely stack wards.Experiment with recasting single target ward or warding the tank with the single target ward and then doing the group ward. (If you use the group ward I'd suggest only using if the fight lasts more than 20 seconds.)Debuffs are useful, you'll get more useful ones later..... If your group is fighting easy stuff (especially with a warlock in the group) you'll feel useless. Useless is good since it means your group is alive. Useless is bad if it's boring. If it bores you that much do damage for something to do. :pIf you are with another healer don't be afraid to discuss group play. For example, who's going to be primary healer? Who's going to rez? Also, to enforce what someone else said...If you wait for wards to fade before recasting you'll eventually get in a situation bad enough where doing that causes <i>at least</i> 1 in your group to die. A good gauge of what you can do is how much damage your tank takes while you are casting either your single ward or group ward.<div></div>
