Oberon isnt as useless as I once thought

<div>Ok last night my guild was doing gates (and beat it 100% for the first time) Anyway I am normally the group 2 mystic but I was in group 1 this night.  I had been wanting to test this spell again to see if there was any changes to it sense my brief 2 month vacation.  Anyway this spell is amazing, I truely think it is the best level 50 priest spell.  36 secs of a amazing regen ward is really nice.  You throw your normal ward a torpor thenyour debuffs, then throw this down and watch your MT just sit at full health.  We went through most names this way without the MT getting touched, for the few times he did it was slow damage that was healed back by the other 3 healers quickly. </div><div> </div><div>I know the down side of the spell, I know the arguements about it as well.  I agree with them as reason why not to use it.  But after this I was simple shocked at how amazing the difference was with it.  And for those huge nasty raid wide stuns it makes them laughable, and the target stays warded throughout the stun.</div><div> </div><div>Anyway just my 2 cents.  I am not saying to rush out there and use nothing but Oberon, but if your in the MT group and you have the mob debuffed you might want to through this down to do alot of healing for soooo little mana for a very long time.  *what little damage that will get past is healed by the other healing priests while we sit with a huge prevention spell*</div><div> </div><div>Anyway I am going to try to test this more later, though thought you might like the thought.</div><div> </div><div>Gustave</div><div>60 mystic of Nek.</div>

<div></div><p>Master 1 Oberon 1510 ward with a 711 regen per tick, or rather 2-3 seconds per regen maybe less. Well yeah in raids having a stunned mystic in the main tank group isnt that good but yeah if you use it right it can be a force of a ward. Like you said use a single target ward on the MT followed by Torpor and depending the mob Attendant. Then i use debuffs on attack speed, then followed by Oberon Macro'ed of course with a message to group telling them i am stunned. Nice spell it is</p><p>Tyrial Winter</p><p>60 Mystic Oasis</p>

<div>I like this spell a lot, but its use is very situational.  I use it when I know the tank has a good hold of agro, the threat from AE spells in minimal, and my debuffs have landed on the target.   It is neat to see the tank's health hold steady for a good half a minute :smileyhappy:  particularly against some epic targets.  </div><div> </div><div>In the wrong situation Oberon has led to complete wipes.  I seem to recall a 64^^^ that chewed up the ward, AE dotted us, and well... i hardly had time to cancel the spell.  :smileysurprised:</div>

<div></div><p>Like I said there are times when it is not useful, but for the whole, its more useful than it is not.  As for a mystic in the MT group being stunned for 36 secs thats not bad at all.  Your going to have at least 1 other if not 2 other healers in MT group as well as a few across raid.  These healers do fine for he damage that might make it past, they also do fine for everything else.  You being stunned for 36 secs is causing every hit or close to it to be reduced by 800-1500 damage depending on how much was regened between hits.  so basically you have the effect of a 800hp reactive on the MT (or close to it) and its not like your the only healer =P.   Again, yes there are other things you can do while stunned but taking off that much damage or almost every hit is insane.  Add in your 48% dps decrese and slows and the mob will have a hard time breaking that. </p><p>As for agro loss, our tank has very little trouble with agro minus mobs that hate wipe of course.  those that do normally have a set time they will which if you time it you can oberon during that time, but I have yet to test or use this spell on such a creature. </p><p>Anyway, the point is that the spell is not as useless as once thought! Yeah! (situation yes, but so is every spell in your book =P)</p>

Our templar, mystic and fury rotate Focused Benefaction, Oberon, and Porcupine so only 1 MT healer is stunned at any given time.  All three are awesome spells when uesd correctly.<div></div>

As a Defiler, I use my version all the time in regular group play.  Of course, mine has the weird effect of feeding power to the whole group too, which makes it more useful than it would be otherwise.<div></div>
