<div>Posted this in defiler forums cuz I just happened to think of it while I was reading one of the threads in there.. didn't get much help with it =/ Figure it prolly makes more sense in here anyway since you mystics should actually have the same question:</div><div><p>one thing I have wondered about this regenning ward thing.. what takes priority for dmg? does the ward buff take first dmg if there's any "ward points" on it or does like your normal single target/grp ward take it?</p><p>Only wondering cuz on some raids where there's an elemental ae, I usually cast my grp elemental ward + resist buff (I'm a warden); this is a 1500ish point ward that regenerates 250ish every few secs. What I wondered about it though is if the shammy in grp has their ward up, which one of our wards will get hit with the mob's elemental ae first? or will the shammy ward ward all but the elemental dmg while my ward soaks up the elemental dmg until it expires?</p><p>Same question should apply to your prophetic guard line, so I'm hoping someone here knows the answer heh</p></div><div> </div>

First up, first down... the first ward cast in any situation will be the first to absorb damage and expire. You came to the right place, as we've had to test it with a variety of spells =P.<div></div>

To further clarify, say you cast your group ward with a regen component, then I cast my group ward. Elemental damage comes in and basically eats the first part of your ward right out, the remainder is dealt to my ward, but lets just say it wasn't enough to take my ward down. Once your ward regens some, it will once again step in front of my ward, because it was cast first. In short, wards that regen themselves should try to be placed first; otherwise you lose efficiency.<div></div>

<div>And this was something you tested to be sure? (just wanna be absolutely clear on it cuz the mystic in my guild said he saw the thread and wasn't sure of hte answer)</div>

<div></div>The day that ward stacking was added, yes (and with other classes, within a day or two of it).If you want to test it, grab a mystic/defiler and any class that can do an elemental spell (fury, wizard, conjuror are probably best), and head to the arena. Group up with the shaman, have the other on the other team. Use lower levels of your wards so that they can be put down in one hit by a big AE.EDIT: To clarify I didn't test that the regen of YOUR spell in particular will retake the forefront on ward regen, but it should follow the same rules. I tested it using our mitigation buff (Runic Talisman, 87 warded/tick) and torpor (regens ward component) along with my single/group wards. The first in/first hit rule was tested solo, with another mystic (me using single, her using group, and casting in different orders) and a with a defiler (same scenario as our wards will overwrite each other if we used the same type).<div></div><p>Message Edited by Thatdumbguy on <span class="date_text">01-14-2006</span><span class="time_text">02:01 PM</span></p>
