<div></div>nice chart <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />but how did you get the numbers?did you go to every server and make a search for class X in level range Y, counted them manually and stuff?or did i miss a place where you can make serverwide surveys?would be interesting, always searched for this feature but never found it <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /><div></div><p>Message Edited by tebion on <span class="date_text">01-10-2006</span><span class="time_text">06:09 AM</span></p>

The number of priests, level 20-60, across all servers. Well, in graphical format. This data is recent as of 2006-01-06Each column represents the number of priests at that level, the color is the particular class. So you can tell Templars make up a pretty big portion of Priests while Defilers make up a very small percentage. I of course have all the exact numbers if someone wanted em, this is more visually understandable though <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /><div></div>

The only problem is this largely just tracks what has been made, not what currently is.That looks like data from EQ2Players.And characters from accounts that have lapsed are still there as well as characters that on still on an active account but havent been played since the first day of release. So those numbers are inflated, and the Templars outnumbering may very well be a result of them being the hands down best healer for 9 months.<div></div>

i am quite sure in those "godlike days of templars" the numbers were be way more in favour of templars though, imo the graph would show differently then -> at least it doesnt look too much out of whack for me tbhbut that's just feeling, nothing more.<div></div>

Correct you are.And I'm working on a solution, that will obviously take time, to get more accurate "active" numbers.<div></div>

Actually, in mid march you'll be able to get REALLY good data.At that point, you'll see the spike at 60 drop off as players distribute between 61 and 70. You can pretty much figure that any spike above the normal curve is an abandoned character. You can see it at L50 right now. That big spike is abandoned characters for the most part. I'm sure there is an appropriate number of L50 Priests, however, those would best be represented by an extrapolation of the curve between L49 and L51 than the spike that exists.

Too bad the user interface isnt a bit more modifyable...some folks made a really cool census plugin for WoW, but EQ2 can't really do that. You could do a much more manual one based on parsing logs of /who data but that would be a bit of a pain as you'd have to type in all the /who statements for each server.<div></div>

<div></div>Well, like I said, give ti a few weeks and I should be able to get 'active' characters, even without the expansionSimply: track the level gains. If 5000/10000 characters gained at least one level over the past 3 weeks, that's a pretty good estimate of how many are active.Of course, right now there is no way to track level 60s.. since nothing changes for them, will need to wait til expansion for that<div></div><p>Message Edited by Demitri on <span class="date_text">01-10-2006</span><span class="time_text">09:38 AM</span></p>

Excellent thinking. And as far as 60s go...I am pretty skeptical about data, but I even wouldnt have too much of an issue accepting all the 60s are active. I would imagine at least a large majority of them are.Or you can just take the average % active for levels 51-59 and assume that many of the 60s are active.<div></div>

<div></div><p>WoW has a great population tracking tool, you can read about it <a target="_blank" href="http://www.warcraftrealms.com/census.php">here</a>. Through the use of a small UI mod any player can take a "snapshot" of all of the characters online, and builds a population report based on all of the census reports sent in. Anyone who's experienced both games would probably agree that the scope and customizability of the WoW interface far surpasses that of EQ2's. I would love to see a tool such as this become available for EQ2...to the public that is. I'm sure the devs can already view server statistics in some shape or form, but the players can't.</p><p>Something like this would also help people decide what server is right for them, based on server density, class distribution, low or high level population etc.</p>

Mystique:That's what I'm trying to build. The problem is EQ2 does not allow such intuitive and useful UI's. Just visual adjustments, but no scripting like WoW's very versitile UI. So I'm gathering the information by hand, but in the end the result will be similiar (and better!)<div></div>

I hate WoW's default interface, whereas EQ2s is mostly spot on.But I have to agree that the amount of customization you can put into the WoW interface far surpasses what little you can do with EQ2's interface.<div></div>

I don't know how many people remember the very early days of Everquest (not EQ2, original). In those days, when you logged on it took you to a Server Select screen. On this screen you could see not only the status of every server (online, down, etc) but also a hard number for how many players were actually playing at that time.I miss such simple niceties as that.

<div></div>Right on Banditman, I remember that too, and that would be a fantastic addition to the server selection list, which only gives some vague idea about how many players are on the server at the time. Light...heavy....according to whom?

<div></div><font color="#ffcc00">So, it would be safe to say then, that there is probably half as many available (active/non active is another issue) raid priests now, as when before LU13? No wonder some guilds are feeling the pinch. </font><font color="#ffcc00"></font><div></div><p>Message Edited by BBoucher on <span class="date_text">01-10-2006</span><span class="time_text">02:39 PM</span></p>

No idea on the attrition rate, but that's 4000+ Priest characters across all servers. Until KoS comes out, I'll have no method of being able to tell which of those accounts are active or not. They've obviously been played since DoF, but they could have been a closed account since briefly after that point.I'm willing to bet the % of level60 priests is a lot higher than the % of level50 priests that are still active, however <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /><div></div>

<div></div><p>Id make that bet too. There was a lot of time that people were "stuck" at 50 and a lot of people made alts and got up to 50 but have not played them since. I was one of them... i leveled a dirge to 50 before the expansion just in case they borked fixing us if i jumped ship id atleast have a dingy. Since the fix was really good i have found it hard to play anything but my mystic. </p>
