View Full Version : What helps a debuff?

I have played both mystic and defiler. Although my main is currently a defiler I think this question effects all heal classes, and any debuffing class (such as my husbands dirge). What stats effect debuffs? How do they work? How do you avoid a debuff being resisted? What stat effects the amount the creature is debuffed for? I have always assumed it was intelligence... is it? Or was I completly off? Is it Wisdom? This would effect the armor both of us were to use. My defiler is 35, and on her, if I debuff, I am guaranteed a much easier time in healing. I think that debuffs can be used as a very large tool in our arsenal against harder mobs.

Message Edited by Memeep on 12-26-2005 06:16 AM

What stats effect debuffs? - Dont know if that is the right question. The type of spell and the quality of the spell affects the debuff. No other stats affect the debuff. How do they work? - See spell details. The debuff that you're probably refering to is the attack speed debuff. That means it hits slower if debuffed, meaning less damage on the tank. This is true for auto attacks only (cant debuff it from casting). How do you avoid a debuff being resisted? - Get a better quality spell. The better it is, the harder it is to be resisted. What stat effects the amount the creature is debuffed for? - Spell quality. Intelligence is generally seen as a DPS factor. Landing a spell is dependent on the spell quality (Get master spells). Wisdom increases your power pool and your general resists to a mob that casts on you. Shammy Debuffs should always be used. Cast it with your ward always.

Well to be complete.. the resist factor that matters is the color con of the mob. Red = Need to land debuff spells so that others may land. Otherwise Fully resisted. Rather dont bother hittng red. Orange = Not as resistant as Red, just debuff it before you hit it. Yellow = should land ok. Ordination / ministration etc does not affect if your spell lands. It prevents a fizzle.

Casting skills DO affect spell resists. As stated by a dev on the forums fairly recently (I am too lazy to dig up a link), your casting skills reduce the chance of an "outright resist".This came up because a great many warlocks were unhappy with their buff that raises the party's casting skills.

Increases to casting skills affect your chances at preventing the enemy from outright resisting the spell completely. In effect, it's similar to the impact that offensive melee skill increases work calculating hits on an enemy. Skill increases work best when fighting enemies that are more likely to outright resist your spells, such as yellow, orange, and red higher cons. With area effect spells, it increases the chance that every target gets hit by the area effect.Edit: For beneficial spells, casting skill increases will lower the chances of fizzle.
Message Edited by Lockeye on 11-06-200501:21 PM

===========================Jared SweattEverQuest II Spells and Combat Designer

Link:http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=24&message.id=14279&query.id=0#M14279

Message Edited by Thatdumbguy on 12-27-2005 06:26 PM
