<DIV>Hey all!!</DIV> <DIV>I recently restarted EQ and had played a mystic before the ward changes and did not like them so I was curious.. how do wards work now?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I know they take AC into account now.. but walk me thru it.. after you cast it.. what happens?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Does it tell you when you were hit? How much HP is left? Mainly I would just like it to work like runes in EQ 1 where it said "YOU were hit, but a magical barrier blocked the blow". So.. how does it work ? <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks in advance!</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Landyn</DIV><p>Message Edited by SnowRanger19 on <span class=date_text>12-22-2005</span> <span class=time_text>04:11 PM</span>

I've noticed prewarding (when grouped with a guardian) depends on the mob/encounter also. In general prewarding is going to generate a lot of agro. <div></div>

What I've noticed is that as long as the person pulling doesn't do body pulls (i.e. proximity), then usually there is no aggro issue. I have noticed in Poets when your in the room with bugs -- it doesn't matter who's tanking, I still get aggro because the room is small and they pop all around. This is reminiscient of the Runic aggro issue. <div></div>

As a general rule, in pick-up groups I always warn tanks about the pre-warding and just remind them to please pull with a taunt whenever possible. Rarely have any issues with it past that.

Killing nightbloods in Rivervale with a level 40+ group? .... no prewarding necessary.Killing in the tower in OoLS off Antonica in the second or third level with instances? .... prewarding killed me faster than I could target and cast a spell.<div></div>

well, if the group is not really focused you have many bodypulls in OoLS <div></div>

This was something that needed unlocked for lack of a better word, was on the other side of the maze thing in the tower in OoLS. First time the mobs spawned and I had group ward up I got murdered... they headed right at me (minus the guardian or assassin or mage in the group). Second time I made sure the wards ran out before the mobs spawned and I got no hate.<div></div>

You had a group Ward up, got a proximity pull and you "healed" before a taunt landed. So yea, you got aggro. I'm not sure that it should be surprising really. You can't pre Ward unless you know that your tank is gonna lay down a taunt within the first couple seconds and preferably follow that taunt up with a high damage CA immediately. In an unknown situation, you should never pre Ward. Nothing is going to kill a tank before you can get something on him, so just be patient. I know, it's hard to let a tank get hurt, I feel you. However, tanks are made for that. Let them take the blows then once the tank has secure aggro fix it.If its someone else getting beat on, same thing. Better they die than you. Here's the thing to remember. There are only two people in the group that are vital. The tank and the healer. If the spit hits the fan, I'll let everyone else die but the tank. A healer and a tank can take care of most anything as a duo, albiet slowly.Sure, if it's reasonably safe to do so, I'll make sure everyone stays alive. Just don't forget the golden rule.Tank + Healer = win.
