After the LU16 patch went out to check all the new nifty looks and such. I was close to reaching a new level so I was mostly doing tears grifter and odd quests here and there. After leveling I checked my stats and noticed that my 'WIS' had not gone up. Obviously this is base+everything else. Am I confused here? Shouldn't the base be going up a little every level?

As far as I know the only times the base is modified are: Character Creation bases are set. Gaining an archetype applys some stat bonuses. Gaining a class applys some stat bonuses. Gaining a subclass applys some stat bonuses. After that I dont know of any other increases. And if there were, I would reason they would only be on the levels that are multiples of 10.

Nope. Your base stats do not increase over time. In fact, Mages had an interesting discussion about INT (their equivalent of Wisdom) a while back. For Mages, they must actively pursue the INT cap as they level otherwise their damage actually goes DOWN as their level goes up. It's strange, but true.
Your power per wisdom will go up each time you level, but not your base wisdom.

Are you sure it's power per Wisdom that goes up or is it just a base addition to your power pool ?

I think its base per level on that as well.

The INT problem is that the game calculates the difference of your int from the max possible to figure out the bonus... as you level the difference is increased because the maximum(cap) is increased.

Well haven't really checked in a long long time since mid forties which was pre revamp. Back then I was (still am but not as much) changing in and out wis items namely neck piece. I was at the time was mainly using the Banetooth Necklace for grouping and the JBoot Necklace for soloing (had a nice mitigation at the time as well as AGI). Both had about the same raw PP Banetooth had +6 wis while the JBoot one had +2 wis. The Banetooth edged out the JBoot one in total raw PP.

hmmm after thinking though... I may be reading between the lines here though...

There was a post many moons ago from a dev describing the power pool modification of wis per point per level. Now are you wondering if the pp/wis point is IN ADDITION to base PP. Or is it a an additional pp/wis point bonus to the Calculation to Base PP. It may seem to be like splitting hairs I guess the only true way to see is to respec and take a trait that adds a % to PP.

Reason being take a person w/ 1k pp base to ease the math.

Version one (pp/wis bonus on top of base)

If the toon is getting 5pp/wis at 30th level with 100 wis it would have a pp of 1500. Now to muddy the waters. If that toon had a trait that added 3% to pp it would be 1000*1.03 which would equal 1530 then you would add the wis bonus in for 1180.

(1000*1.03)+(100*5)=1530

Version two (pp/wis bonus to base)

((1000+(100*5)*1.03)=1545

Man I just confused myself.... I really wished we got something for having higher Wis other than power(well and resists)

Before the revamp, I was getting about (level/10) points of power per wisdom. That, I am sure of. I haven't really paid that much attention to it since then. Assumed (bad thing, I know) that it was the same.

I think the formula may be too complex for us to decipher given what we have.

You could take off all your gear and compare your power pool immediately before you ding, then immediately after. That would give you the change in power pool, from which you could compute your points / wisdom.

Unfortunately, that doesn't necessarily tell you the whole story. If it was an increase in base power pool, it would still "appear" that your power / wisdom went up.

You could do a comparison, before / after ding of power pool naked and power pool with full gear on. That would give you 4 points of data to look at, but it still would be very difficult to account for the diminishing returns of wisdom as you approach the cap. Unless of course that was done away with.

I dunno.

I think the best information we can give players is to simply do whatever gives them the most wisdom and power. That's a decision they'll simply have to learn how to make for themselves. An item with +2 Wis and +50 power may well be a better item than something with +5 Wis and +10 power. Players are simply going to have to learn the basics and then make educated decisions based on their understanding of the mechanics.

I think that we can get a rough idea, even given just a few data points. By the way, if you see anything wrong with this, please let me know. Bad information doesn't benefit anyone.

1. Strip Naked. Note your Naked power (P1) and Naked Wisdom (W1).

2. Equip one item. Note any +power modifiers on the item (pm). The more wis, the better, due to any coded rounding.

3. Note new power (P2) and new wisdom (W2).

4. Power/Wisdom (p/w) = (P2-P1-pm)/(W2-W1)

Formula in (4) gives power per point of wisdom.

5. (p/w) * (W1) = total power due to your inherent wisdom (iwp)

6. (P1-iwp) = base power at a given level. Call this BP.

If there is an increase to BP, then the result of #6 should change every time that you level up. I am about 10% away from leveling right now, so I should level over the weekend. I can post results here after that.

Caveat: Like Bandit said, it is probably difficult to compare different characters, due to training choices, racial traits, etc. Therefore, the numbers that I come up with will most likely be a bit different for others. For reference, I took the power regen traits. However, if someone took the power pool traits, their "base power" number would be larger than mine. I don't remember the exact % power boost if you took those traits/choices. However, this will at least give us a start as far as power/wis, and base power pools are concerned.
