View Full Version : Mystic Instant aggro.....

<DIV>Hello everyone,</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>My main Character is a Templar so I need somewhat of a personal education from some of you. I know I can get instant aggro in a raid with a Reactive set on the main group before the encounter is engaged. I'm good enough with my skills to compensate and our main raid tank can always save me from too long of a pounding.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>No matter what, if our Mystic is in a raid or group, she draws instant aggro. She can have buffs down and all wards down but she will still draw aggro. The tank can usually divert all mobs to him and after this onerous attack from mobs we usually go on to win the day. She isn't able to withstand the pounding that I can take so there are a few times, depending on mobs, she dies at the initial onset of a raid.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>My question here is: Are any of you other Mystics experiencing this very same thing. Do mobs always single you out and want your head on a spike? If so I believe this is something that needs changed very quickly. If some of you have been able to reduce your aggro signature please let me know because I feel sorry for her as some people think it is something she is doing and I know its not. I really don't want her doubting herself.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'm overly concerned with this because as her guildleader/raidleader I don't want her to despair. Our main tank is very good and can keep aggro off chain HOing warlocks and wizzies, but the Mystic will still draw a high hate level.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thank you,</DIV> <DIV>Minowa aka Skydude</DIV> <DIV>Guildleader of Dominion on Oggok</DIV>

Yes, it's a known issue. It only happens on certain raids. Having another Priest hold up the mitigation buff helps. Don't pre-Ward.

I haven't and neither has another Mystic in raids had this problem. But like Bandit said make sure not to preward. <div></div>

Go to Gates of Ahket Aken, pull the encounter that guards the tunnel between Trade and Residence court with Runic Talisman running. Be sure to revive in the right zone.

<DIV>Healer mit buff does not stack so if there are two healers in a group I'll let the other healer cast theirs and I'll just use the extra con slot with say a hp/mana buff on someone. If it's just me I'll wait till the tank pulls then cast it - of course this can be tricky if the mob hits hard... I also agree with prewarding - BAD... but if you do it right you could ward the tank and stand directly behind him then move out of the way to avoid barrage once tank has aggro and hopefully the mob is melee and doesn't cast a nuke from afar (yes crazy!). I personally preward and take a few hits on regular encounters. In raids? Since we use teamspeak what I do is the tank will count down and as soon as he is at 2 or 3 I will begin casting my ward...by the time it finishes the tank will already have a taunt off :smileywink:</DIV>
Ran into my first problem with the Runic line this past weekend raiding Spirits of the Lost. Since there was a Templar in the group, I cancelled the buff, and cast another prophecy. No problems after that. <BR><BR>However, in maximizing MT group setup, I can see where this might be a problem later on.

It's personally a little disappointing to me since I have Master 1 Runic Talisman.

Unfortunately, Master 1 Runic is 564 Mit, and IIRC is higher then anyone elses mit buff at master (other then defiler, which is also 564).I think the real issue at hand is the fact that AE taunts are having some serious resist rates, and are working as follows:Tank blows AE tauntMob 1 gets tauntedMobs 2-4 resistTank has reuse timer like there was no resist. Not only that, but with certain encounters being spaced out, alot of times the tank is forced to single taunt one mob, and nail the AE once others get in range. However, I can't say that I have experienced any major problems with this, maybe had a mob ping to me once out of three million bazillion pulls.Note that while pre-warding is bad, if your tank is parked and pre-pulling, pre torpor seems to work great.<div></div>

<DIV>Actually, I have rarely had this happen to me during raids (and as the highest Mystic in my guild, I am in the MT group 99% of the time that I show up for a raid).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Maybe the tank just has his game-face on. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Oddly enough, I find the aggro problems can be horrific during grouping. For no reason that I can put a finger on, the moment I dinged 54 I started having increased aggro problems. Even without pre-warding, It is not uncommon for a tank to try to pull a group mob (with taunts) and I find myself swarmed. I trust the tanks in my guild and they are top-notch raiders. I don't know if there was any significance to dinging 54, but I am still leveling and there seems to be no sign of this stopping. I am becoming legendary among my guild for Aggro, but apparantly they still think I'm a great healer, and they love my wards, so I'm not being shunned yet. =) (yet)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I usually dismiss it when I am in a pick-up group because a lot of tanks are still not familiar with the special needs of grouping with the aggro-thirsty mystic.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The one time that I think I got aggro right after pull in a raid recently, we let one of our Paladins attempt to tank Darathar (just out of curiosity, really). My Mystic went down in seconds; not sure what happened there it went so fast. That didn't work out too well. But I didn't have the same problem at all for the rest of that raid. It's still "Guardian for the win" it seems <shrug>. This is the only time I can remember getting mobbed right after the pull, since the expansion.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>-K</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>yes ive had this problem and it has nothing to do with pre warding. Almost everytime I'll get attacked first over any class in the game, I've actually been on fallow eating doing absolutly nothing with my character and they will still attack me first. Usually its not a problem cause the tanks can pull them off pretty easy. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><BR> <BLOCKQUOTE> <HR> Skydude wrote:<BR> <DIV>Hello everyone,</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>My main Character is a Templar so I need somewhat of a personal education from some of you. <P>Not sure if you all know this but when I'm in a zone where I can jump on a wall to avoid aggro I will stand there with runic on and if another member is running around getting an update or shard I tell them not to have ANY buffs that proc and only wear items and equipment with no proc. When they run near a mob the mob hits them once then INSTANTLY runs to me. As they approach I jump the wall - I too have nothing on that procs so I don't go into combat and can safely jump the wall. I also tried hanging on the wall. This is a hit and miss. Sometimes the mobs ran to me and then broke but sometimes they stayed on the group member. Keep in mind this does not work with flying creatures - it will just break the encounter and they will still attack you! :smileyvery-happy:</P> <P>I tried this in Living Tombs.</P>

<DIV>I think the poster who identified the taunt issue has hit the nail on the head, If the MT AE taunt is not resisted by all the MoBs then np I don't get touched, if the tank uses proximity aggro or a bow pull on a group then I will probably pick up some aggro.</DIV> <DIV>I am finding that I am using "Harmonius Spirit" quite reguarly now to try and lose aggro but the reuse timer needs looking at, as it is a little bit to long to use this spell as much as I would like.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Ummari, Mystique of the Shard</DIV> <DIV>Mystic of Synergy</DIV> <DIV>Splitpaw Server</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>I believe the timer is set accordingly - if i remember it used to be 5 minutes and now it's 3 minutes. I mean say you have a timer of 20 seconds - then every 20 seconds you can lower hate AND stun the mobs around you - not complaining though! Would be neat to see that change :smileytongue:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>
