View Full Version : Torpor?
<DIV>Is Torpor still out there in live? I have not heard anything about it since the post on these forums showing piccies of 3 -new spells on Beta! The reason for my question is that I got the Ancient scroll thingie from a chest and it has the adept 3 recipe but needs to be scribed by a lvl 52 Sage.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Ummari</DIV> <DIV>Lvl 50 Mystic of Synergy</DIV> <DIV>Splitpaw Server</DIV>

That would be it. You found the scroll....what exactly are you asking? <div></div>
<P>I was just wondering if the scroll I have is still useable and not a leftover from DoF Beta, I have not seen anything recently in the spell listings detailing Torpor, the only post I have seen is showing a screenie saying it is a lvl 50 spell which was from the first days of DoF Beta. What I am really saying is if I give this scroll to a sage lvl 52+ along with the rare will he be able to make a spell I can use, if so at what level.</P> <P align=left>Ummari</P> <P align=left> </P>

Last I heard Protective Spirits was rolled into something else (Torpor perhaps?) and a new spell added called Ancient Balm.

Torpor is still Torpor. Protective Spirits is now Ancient balm. Slothful Spirit is also still in the game as far as i know. <div></div>

Good catch. Got torpor made last night and it did have the ward rolled into it. All in all it looks to be an awesome spell so far. <div></div>

Are you able to buy the App II version of Torpor? Is the App III/App IV craftable with the standard books or is the only way to make the spell with the Ancient Teachings scroll? <div></div>

You must make it in adept 3, requires the sage to have scribed the ancient teachings. Other then that, the process is normal (i.e., requires a vanadium or pearl). <div></div>

Whatever you have to do / pay to get this spell, just do it. You will not regret it. It may well be the most effective heal in the game at present.

Torpor is on its own timer. It is a brand new spell, upgrading nothing, thankfully. I have the adept 3 version and I use it all the time. I'd rather not see it nerfed so I don't want to go into how much I like this spell. Just take the first pearl you get, and get this made <span>:smileyhappy:</span> <div></div>

Next question, since torpor has a ward component, if the tank takes say a hit for 600 does eating the ward break the heal early?

That has not been my experience.

Tank gets hit for 1k. Will the spill-over damage (post-Torpor ward) be absorbed by Aegis?</P> <P>Seems like a pretty neat trick....the ward component of Torpor would keep taking hits as it regens, with Aegis picking up the rest. I don't have Torpor yet, so I'm looking for more excuses to burn through 51 and spend a few plat on the Adept 3. :smileyhappy:</P> <P><STRONG>Kanali - 51 Mystic - Steamfont</STRONG></P>

There is no excuse for not pushing to 52 for this spell. None.

<DIV> <DIV>Anyone had there tank moaning and groaning about the decreased atk speed and snare components? I cant wait to get this spell. </DIV></DIV>

It's funny to put it on whoever's pulling for the group. Not as funny as "accidentally" killing or near killing them with Water Spirit, but it's close <span>:smileyvery-happy:</span>. I wouldn't worry about any tank groaning about being slowed with this spell. It's certainly not reason enough to quit using it. Tell them to suck it up, it doesn't last that long, and unless your tank is a brawler, or has Detonation procs on their armor, they won't be the primary source of dps for the group anyway. <div></div>

The speed decrease does not affect CA's. Those are still available on the same timers.
<DIV>Loved Torpor on my EQ shammie! Between my slows and Torpor, I was a punching bag and could sustain myself getting whacked on for 15 minutes on mob that would kill a tank in 30 seconds. Torpor was eventually upgraded to a spell called Quiessence which did not have the snare or slow effect.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I might start playing the mystic again now that I know Torpor is back!</DIV>

Dinged 52 last night and went to town with Torpor on the MT............he was totally impressed because if I timed it right..........torpor......slow........ward(just as torpor dropped) .........rinse repeat. His health did NOT MOVE. The great thing about the 520 ward is that it says it wards agains ALL damage and seems to be accurate. We were in Shimmering citadel and the casters were dotting me but not him when torpor was up. All I can do is reiterate what the uber folk have already said .........there is NO REASON to not get this spell. <div></div>

<DIV>Combined Torpor and shadowed attendant, both do an awsome heal overtime. Torpor its one of my best heal fast cast for myself, but you need that spell adept 3.</DIV>
