<DIV>Currently on live, Umbral Ritual Master 1 wards for 3049 points of damage.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Currently on beta, Umbral Ritual Master 2 wards for 1877 points of damage.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>What the heck happened?  This is not "balance."  This is nerf.  That ward will be gone in a flash during a raid situation.  Back to the original problem of the wards poofing after one second.   Regular grouping, sure it will be useful.  But I'm in a raiding guild, and they expect me to do my share to keep the tank alive.  This coupled with the longer cast time of Enlightened Healing.  This really makes me unhappy.  <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>And wards are not the perfect heal, because they still let through special attacks.  I cannot keep Oberon on a tank for its full duration without cancelling it because the tank is still taking damage from specials (I assume it's from specials anyway) and needs to be direct healed.  If there are two or more different class healers in a group, then we will compliment each other quite well... I ward off the regular attacks, hots or reactives heal what gets through.  I'd really really like to be the only healer in a regular exp group for a change though, I really would.</DIV>

There are pros and cons to the combat changes...sure the ward will be nerfed a bit but at least it will finally do what it is supposed to do! :smileyhappy: <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>In regards to healing, healing for mystics will be secondary compared to warding.  Currently most don't see mystics as great healers anyhow so come changes, they will still have the same assumption and expect warding more than healing.</DIV><p>Message Edited by vicarious on <span class=date_text>08-30-2005</span> <span class=time_text>10:22 AM</span>

<DIV>Gosh back to us being the worst healers on the server man this is not good for my hopes.  I wish they would just stick with somthing. I say make wards less damage but heal on disapation.  Now i say we should be more like fury with the big instant heal with a little overflow healing. Also i think  that our group heals should have more of a boost instead of 600 to every one for the power it cost's every one should get like 750 to 800 well considering my group heal is only adept 1. maybe i should boost it to adept 3.</DIV>

The difference you arent mentioning is that wards will take mitigation into account, which makes even more of a difference to raiding. On live, regardless of the targets mitigation, 3049 damage is prevented.  But who are you warding? Thats right, the raid tank with crazy mitigation. Lets just give some examples of how much damage would have actually hit the tank had you not put your big 3049 point ward on them. 50% mitigation : ~1525 points of damage after tank mitigation 60% mitigation: ~1220 points of damage after tank mitigation 70% mitigation: ~915 points of damage after tank mitigation 80% mitigation: ~610 points of damage after tank mitigation So when you put the beta ward on a tank and prevent 1877 points of mitigated damage, you blow anything you can currently do with your nonmitigated ward out of the water. Ask your tank tonight just how much mitigation he has when on a raid fully buffed. <div></div>

Yup.  On a tank having 80% mitigation, that new ward of yours is about 300% better than the old one.

You cannot compare Live numbers to Beta numbers.  It isn't even the same game.

Also, maybe this is just me, but I noticed some weird stuff with specials yesterday. How is that fixing balancing and making the /con system work better? By making it equally trivial for everyone? sheesh</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Wards are bad? *shrug* Who knows, I barely had to use them against yellows last night. Haze has been nerfed? Maybe so, but since I did fine against yellow encounters without even using it, what does it matter?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Re-balancing = giving everyone an equally easy ride.</DIV>

It's not specials.  It's everything. Every single damage report "appears" to go through the Ward for zero damage.

<DIV>Tried it again tonight. Yeah it is.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>You get a "Your ward absorbs 100 damage" then a "Goblin's Raging Swing does 0 points of crushing damage"</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Actually, I quite like it - it tells you the ward works and what <EM>would</EM> have hit you. *shrug*</DIV>

<font color="#ffff00">you get a "Your ward absorbs 100 damage" then a "Goblin's Raging Swing does 0 points of crushing damage" <font color="#ffffff">Does that count as an actual hit for purposes of hit-triggered procs like imbued armor?</font> </font><div></div>

<font color="#ffffff">From a past test update note:        </font> - Reactive procs that are triggered when taking damage will now activate properly even if the hit is fully mitigated or warded. In other words, yes. Janzert <div></div>
