Hi,

I had a wonderful Shaman in EQ1 and went into the 40's with my EQ2 mystic, but left to join freinds in WoW. I was wondering if we still are the abused child of the game (ie. wards sucking, heals less per cast then other healers, major;y nerfed debuffs, poor damage, etc.)?

In my opinion yes we stink. Our dps is low the only way i found soloing bearable was:

All spells with Chance to proc had to be adept 3 and all damage spells had to be at least adept.

After i had done that i could solo somthing orange with no arrows or somthing green with 2 arrows

other than that we are teh [Removed for Content] of Dps and the Wuss of healing in my oppinon

At the current time, we are in a pretty sorry state. That said, there are some changes currently on Desert of Flames beta that will make us a bit better. I know this probably isnt the answer you want, but to get the best idea of where the class is...I would suggest checking back in 3 weeks to a month. Desert of Flames is released on Sept. 13, so probably by Sept. 20th any changes that the devs let get through should be readily apparent.

Don't get too excited yet. Clerics still sport a very sizeable edge in overall healing power.

If the clerics are still doing better than all I wonder why they are freaking out on the feedback forums? Perhaps it's only the players who are templars but who arent testing?

aprilstorme wrote:

If the clerics are still doing better than all I wonder why they are freaking out on the feedback forums? Although imo something like sow would be in line for them, too. but thats a different story, the whiners just want the allmighty eq1-cleric again where nothing goes without them any more. ah, yes, and the good old "whine until they change it the way i want it" syndrome comes up again, too, hehe

As previously stated wait around 3 weeks and then take advantage of the free 7 day subscription

aprilstorme wrote:

If the clerics are still doing better than all I wonder why they are freaking out on the feedback forums? Perhaps it's only the players who are templars but who arent testing?

It in a large part comes from mindsets from other games, where a cleric is nothing but thier heals. As such, they are screaming because they hear that everyone will heal as well as them, and also have all the "other stuff" that druids and shamans usually get. The templars that complain are for the most part screaming that because some of thier utility isn't as good, thier healing should be better. What they fail to realize is that everyone's "other stuff" is pretty equally negligable. Slows are nice, but no more nice than thier mitigation debuff line. Group inivis is useful, but the stun they get at the same level could be made useful as well. They see shaman/druid utility as being amazing, when really its all that great. "Why should druid and shamans have ___________ and equal healing? We don't get anything like that!" But in fact they do recieve several lines of "other stuff" that is equitable to what druids and shamans have. That said, there are 3 issues I completely support for Templars to get fixed 1) Oddyssey is not as useful as Spirit of Wolf, it should be made so. 2) Prostrate is not viewed as useful as group invis or evac, perhaps it needs to be fixed or changed. 3) One line of thier DoTs is inferior to the comparable DoTs of druid/shamans. This leads to DPS complaints, even though most of thier other DPS spells are right in line with the comparable druid/shaman tools.
