Woot! I sooo missed Torpor from eqlive. Other 2 don't look half bad either. I'm actually impressed.

Torpor was never so popular in Eqlive due to its effect of slowing down target A LOT. It was cost effective spell between fights, but deadly in actual fight. And 15 second effect in other spell? Hellooooo???

Ah, the old tricks... Like the one where someone had some disagreement against some monk in a group. After death he took a quick visit to bank and took 30k copper with him. When monk did next pull he did split and monk almost stopped to his tracks. It was an easy job for the mob monk pulled...

I missed torpor too, and am pretty pleased its back. However, It's main funtion in eqlive, due to the slowing effect, was between fights. Between fight heals, due to the quick regen, isn't as needed. Or if it is, typically a direct heal would still be preferable, since the power used to cast it for yourself is pretty minute, again due to the regen.

They should dump the slow effect due to the mechanics of EQ2.

Assuming it stacks with wards, torpor seems ok. Obviously the attack speed decrease will annoy the tank.

I'm more bothered with the regen on the ward protective spirits. IMO secondary effects which are dependent on the ward staying up are pretty worthless, due to the likelihood of the ward getting smacked down fairly quickly.

Torpor, as well as it's lower level cousin from the Ykesha expansion worked fine for healing in fights, you just had to be sure that someone was snaring the mob. Torpor now, Quiescence in 6 months! (wouldn't that be nice). Attack speed decrease is hardly important to a tank. In fact, the less often they attack the better.

No quick conclusion we only have the app1 stats, we could still dream about a lesser slow reduction and better heal on adept 1/3 Master

Banditman wrote: Attack speed decrease is hardly important to a tank. In fact, the less often they attack the better.

Hmm... why? When you raiding and MT is a guardian(usually) - attack speed is less important. But other tanks using they damage to generate more heat, and attack speed is more important for them.

IMO their taunts cause more hate and also some raid mobs reposte - basically when the tank hits the mob, the mob retorts with a massive amount of damage where if they taunt more and attack less the less damage the tank gets (think that made sense).

Ripostes are definitely a nasty, nasty problem. Remember, these spells balance into the new combat system, not the one you are playing under now. Auto attack damage from a tank is pretty much negligible under the new system. 90+ percent of their aggro is generated by arts.

And all groups warned me not to use torpor in fights due to slowing effect. I never saw a shaman who could main heal btw. Not in latest expansions anyway. Getting best healing spells needed a group to areas where you could not get group unless you had those spells already...

Shaman could not MH in current content, they were however the kings of trivial content.
