From the abilities board..... Eepop: And unless you dont plan to level until the revamp, its about time to start getting that wards only idea out of your head. As soon as the fighter you are healing gets level 30 and his bright shiny new suit of armor, his mitigation is going to shoot up and those wards are going to become inferior to direct heals. Zotar: I am somewhat concerned about this, but I don't usually group with fighters -- usually mages and scouts -- so it will have less of an effect on my play. I am more concerned about how wards will be balanced when used on non-tanks once mitigation is taken into account by wards. Will this mean that I can't let the mages do the tanking anymore? Didnt want to hijack that thread as it was on a different topic, so moving here. Answer It is the fighter's role to tank, it is thier reason to exist. Not so for mages and scouts. The fact that wards can allow them to do so is in the most part broken as it is on live. After the revamp, when mitigation is taken into account on wards, this mage/scout tanking will no longer be as viable. That said a priest duoing with a scout or mage will still be able to take on content. Mages tanking will definately be quite dimminshed, but scout or priest tanking probably wouldnt change much. The raw amount of wards will go down, but priests and scouts have some mitigation to help that. So I wouldnt expect too much difference between live and post revamp in scout/priest tanking. Mage tanking however will probably not be a good idea.

Thanks for moving the thread here. I like the way it is now (although I agree that it could be considered broken) at least at lower levels where wards are effective. In small pickup groups of 2-3, wards make coordination a little less important as I can "follow the aggro" with them. I can pull with debuffs and whichever of us ends up with the aggro can get warded. Wards as they stand now make armor meaningless. Anyone can tank as well as anyone else (although at least actual tanks are in a better position when the ward drops). While this seems silly (that mages can tank as well as fighters), it really does make it easier to manage when you don't happen to have a fighter in the group. The silliness becomes clearer when you have mages tanking for paladins My 33 Paladin has spent more grouping time as healer/warder than as the tank. Personally, I am prepared to wait and see how it works out. I'll deal with however they set it up. I just hope that they consider that not every group is a perfect one and being able to manage with odd combinations of classes means less standing around LFG. I don't have much experience with non-shaman healers -- who does the tanking in a druid/mage combo?
