View Full Version : SOE just needs to stop screwing around with Mystics

<DIV>I find it quite puzzling that it was deamed that Mystics needed 3 water breathing spells. The very first one only gave 15 minutes of water breathing, which suited the need. The second 2 'Water Spirit' and 'Aqueous Spirit' are completely identical. Water beign the lvl 23 spell and Aqueous being the 37 spell. In fact the lvl 23 APP I spell is identical to the lvl 37 spell at Adept III. 15 minute water breathing and +3 defence. SOE had to nerf the Water APP IV because it gave +5 defence when the Aqueous gave only +3.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>It is almost laughable. The lvl 38 spell was a nice present. Slow the mob attack spead and root the caster. Can you say 'insta death.'</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>What SOE needs to do is to revamp our spells to give us what was promised. That is the ability to play the game to fit our play styles. Spells list that is good for solo as well as group. Ever try to get exp at a decent rate solo? Get a duo going and kill the same mobs at the same rate and tripple the exp rate...</DIV>

<DIV>I assume they will change the fact that nomather how much you upgrade Water Spirit it doesn't change 1 bit .. :/</DIV>

Aye... I'm kinda banking on that too, having picked up the Master I Aqueous Spirit fairly cheap. I'm just hoping they make it better with addition +defense, and not just extended breathing time, although that would be nice too.

Frankly, with Fishbone so easy to complete, Water Breathing is really a waste at higher levels. The only reason to cast it is for the secondary effects like defense and elemental resist. <div></div>

<DIV>The waterbreathing spells are ridiculous.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The slow that roots the caster however isnt' bad at all. I use it all the time and NEVER have gotten agro while using it. I have had to have the tank reposition the mobs so that I could reach them so I can smack them with my puny melee though.</DIV>

Let me assure you Mourning Soul does in fact have an aggro component. Arch Lich Udalan was NOT pleased when I bounced it off him 4 strait times. <div></div>

With the other problems that mystics and defilers are having, why on earth are you wasting bandwidth on water breathing? That's like standing in the bathroom of a buring house and complaining that someone squeezed the toothpaste tube in the middle again. <div></div>

Hahaha... That really was funny. <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>But the water breathing spell is not really about the breathing. It's about raising your group's DEFENSE. Adding +4 to defense will take a character that is 20% into his level, and essentially level them up from the perspective of the mob's being able to hit him. Sometimes it's the difference between a green and grey mob, or an orange and yellow one.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>From what I can tell, it also stacks with other forms of +DEFENSE. When grouped with a tank that has chosen traits to up his defense, or using CAs that do the same, it appears that he will even take less damage. I assume the same is true for a troub or dirge's buffs, but I haven't paid much notice.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So, with all that in mind, I would LOVE to see a meaningful improvement to the breath line of spells. Keep them at 15 mins and let the Master I give 2 more points, increase the duration, or both. More than likely though, I expect my Master I will be the same after the big revamp as it is today. Just crossing my fingers.</DIV>

I would be a lot happier if they'd simply give us a +NOXIOUS as a component of our Water Breathing. That would be most excellent. <div></div>

I havent checked it lately but I know for certian that several of my main buffs that have the same resist buff on them do not stack.</span><div></div>

+DEFENSE is taking a nosedive in the next patch, +NOXIOUS would be far more useful. I don't think they'll do it, but it does fit the class. <div></div>

Did you play with the buff stacking fiasco a few weeks ago? That was another part of combat rebalancing that accidentally got pushed live. It was ugly. I sincerely hope the mobs are gonna get nerfed as well, because it was a freakin' nightmare. Post revamp, +DEFENSE is not going to be worth nearly what it is now. <div></div>

Hmm... Well, if that's the case, I'm thinking I won't be able to handle those green double-up named mobs solo anymore. I think the +4 defense from the spell, along with my +3 defense chest piece and my racial +5 defense trait really helped in those fights. I was essentially 2.4 levels above actual from my ability to avoid being hit. One of the things I like about being a Mystic is my ability to solo. Sounds like that might be in jeopardy.

The "con" system is also taking a revamp in the same process to be more accurate.</P> <P>As I said often, alot of things will have to be unlearned, and alot of assumptions will have to be discarded after the rebalancing.<BR></P>
