View Full Version : Mystic Raid Buff Questions
Hello Mystic Community! We have a couple up and coming mystics that are starting to join us in raids. I was digging around these forums to see what kind of buffs they could provide as they continue to level up. I did find the spell listing in eq2players but sadly those are just descriptions and I was looking to get some numbers so I could figure out the best way to use them. My question is what can you folks provide to the Main Tank group and what can you provide to the DPS groups. Ballpark figures are ok just don't want my lack of knowledge to be the cause of improperly utilizing these folks. Thanks in advance, Irt

Shamans excel at buffing large amounts of strength, and noxious resists.

We also do decently with HP/Power, mitigation, and divine resists.

Thanks for the info Eepop. Sounds like Mystics make a good MT group healer versus warlock mobs. One other question: I read in your skill list that your water breathing spell line has a side effect of increasing defense. Does it increase the "defense" skill and if so by how much? Also, can you cast that spell on a person in a different group then you are in during a raid? example is the Mystic being in the dps group but casting the water breathing with defense buff spell on teh main tank in a different group.
The water breathing spell increases defense by 4, can be cast on anyone, not just people in the group. Mystics are best suited for the main tank group over the dps group due to the nature of our buffs.

Avatar is also nice for the main tank: 35 str, agi, sta, haste

We tend to have an excess of healers on our raids (i.e. on a good night we have 2 healers per group lol) so sometimes i just happen to get in whatever group needs a healer. But on a night when it really matters where we stick our healers, i almost always find myself in the MT group or in a group that has a secondary tank in it. The only buff that we have that really helps out DPS is avatar, and that isn't that huge a deal. So to echo the others, mystics tend to best be served in a tank group.

In a 3 healer MT group, you are crazy not to have a Mystic in there. Our typical MT group is Templar, Warden, Mystic.

Mystics can actually use their Prophecy spell in a MT group provided the encounter isn't using a lot of Noxious based spells, which gives HP above and beyond what they normally would. It costs 2 CP though, so you can't use it unless other Priests are covering those spell effects (+HP, +Power).

Non Noxious buffs:

Spirit of Elephant, Runic Talisman, Ursine Prophet, Prophesy, Avatar, Aqueous Spirit

Noxious buffs:

Spirit of Elephant, Runic Talisman, Ursine Prophet, Eidolic Mettle, Prophetic Guard (I think, it's the right line, might be wrong spell), Avatar, Aqueous Spirit

Yah, I'm in the MT group to stay w/o question now since i just got the Mater for Runic Talisman which adds another 110 or so points to mitigation for the entire group.
Once again thanks for the info! Our Mystic isn't quite leveled up yet but is getting there. We will definately try some new combinations in the MT group with the mystic and see how it goes. Thanks! Irt
