View Full Version : Anyone else take this as a nerf?

<DIV>First let me say that I'm only 40, and not in a raiding guild - so our little slows may or may not stick on many raid mobs, I simply don't know yet...if they don't then this doesn't matter.  If our slows ever stuck, then methinks we just got another smack with the nerf bat, intentional or not...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>---Contested level 50+ epic encounters have been made considerably more challenging. They have been increased in levels: x2 mobs are now level 56, x3 and x4 mobs are now level 57. They have been given a base damage increase,<FONT color=#ff0000 size=4> an auto-attack haste increase</FONT>, and a special multi-target attack.---</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>My understanding from checkin this board is that our slows only effect the auto-attack, and now they haste the mobs auto attack?  Of course, for all other content, I'm sure we're fine...heh...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I know, they are simply trying to keep raiding guilds motivated/challenged until the expansion comes out, but geez...I suppose I can only hope that the first reply to my post here is "our slows never stick on boss mobs anyway, so its irrevelant".</DIV>

If anything, a haste to auto attack speed should create more of a demand for a slower. Yes, if you can't get your slow to stick, doesn't matter, but I see this as a positive change towards making slow more useful. <div></div>

<P>Hmm, I don't think that is true.  For example, before the patch, say mob X does 150 dps unhasted, if an 11% slow landed he does 133.5 dps.  Now, consider they took the same mob and hasted him by 5% on auto attacks.  Instead of 150 dps, he is now doing 157.5 dps.  Then, consider the same 11% slow, his dps is now 140.18.  So, pre patch, our slow was taking the mob to 133.5 dps, and post patch, 140.18 dps.  </P> <P>If this example is similar to what happened, our slows were effectively nerfed.  If we can't stick slows on named mobs of this level anyway, the point is irrelevent.</P> <P>ooh, and btw, even using fictitious numbers, my math is probably wrong in calculating the slow percentage dps change, but the example remains the same, regardless of the numbers if you just look at the basic principle.</P>

Actually, it's not a nerf (provided it's not a moot point). X = old damage, Y = new damage, k = percent slow If Y > X, then kY > kX, so the raw damage avoided is more, even if (1-k)Y > (1-k)X. And, of course, the percentage is the same. <div></div>

Slows are quite weak anyway in Eq2, so why to complain about them. Besides I heard that people have been complaining that endgame raid mobs are not challenging enough. <div></div>

<P>Seeing as Howling Haze won't stick over L55 I'm not sure it even matters.</P> <P>Yea, you can use Mourning Soul, but there is a cap on it as well.</P> <P> </P> <P>This has very little import to Mystics I'm afraid.</P>

<DIV>I must say I was pretty [Removed for Content] last night when trying to get Asphyxia, and every single debuff dropped after half a second, and haze didn't even land once.... <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV>
