What's the trade off?

<DIV>Ok, so I hit 40 and begin to search for new gear and notice something I had not before...it seems at this level, the +power difference between very light/light armor and medium is pretty big.  At what point do we, as Mystics that take a beating for those direct heals we always have to use, sacrifice AC for +power / +wisdom gear?  Is AC secondary to power and wis in most situations?  Would you sacrifice 30AC for +20 Power?  Wisdom and Power are what keep us going, but it seems such a shame to be wearing Light or Very Light, when the benefits of the Medium, in other regards besides Wis and Pwr, are available to us.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I knew some Shaman in EQLive that were AC hounds, and swore by it...but I know that when a fight is long enough, or tough enough, for me to be running on fumes power-wise, I am normally not getting beat on and that extra power would certainly benefit the group moreso than me having extra AC.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<P>Great question.  I am dealing with that at level 35.  Right now I carry 2 sets of armor, 1 for grouping and 1 for soloing.  The grouping is a complete set of Traditional Halfling which puts my Wisdom over 160.  The soloing set is a complete set of feysteel brigandine (feysteel chain will also work).  brigandine is golden brown and chain is silver.</P> <P>I don't know how I'm going to deal with it at 40, but I imagine if you solo alot you might want a high AC.  If you group most of the time, you might want a high wisdom/power - of course with the massive amount we can carry in EQ2 (at least as a barbarian -which I am) just carry 2 complete sets.</P> <P>Don't know if this will help, as I am still a newbie.</P> <P>Legendus Dominion, Mystic of 35 Winters</P> <P>Legion of Legend Officer</P> <P>Befallen Server</P>

The mitigation difference between Medium and Light armor is very little.  At L50 my BP is LA simply because I managed to find a BP with Wisdom on it.

<div></div>It will be interesting to see the difference a mystic gets from light vs medium armor after the healer changes all go live (e.g., losing parry, etc). My main concern is whether I will still be able to tank solo mobs IN TEH FACE when I am soloing, or will our solo game be nerfed out of existence. Certainly at that point if we get owned by mobs regardless of the armor we wear then who cares about AC...go for stats. Anxiously awaiting to see what all they do. <P>lvl 32 here,</P> <P>I find that i'm hot swapping more and more in a battle to adjust for the conditions at that very moment. Proactive strategy is to be prepared to react quickly more and more with each new level.</P>

i'm wearing mostly medium now just because i happened to get some. I wear ebon for all but my hat which is VLA, my boots are VLA, and i have the medium priest BP from lagoon. But i have no problem wearing VLA. I never look at ac when thinking of gear choices.
