View Full Version : Mystics will not be restored through complaining, but through direct action.

This is not an issue that will be solved by our stating our concerns, however valid they may be. The simple fact of the matter is that Sony's, and arguably only, priority is money. Faarwolf has state on the boards that cancellations are not as extreme as one reading the boards may think, therefore Sony knows that while many will be vocal, relatively few will actually leave the game; we as a species tend to stay where we are comfortable, even when it makes no sense to do so. Long story short, they can afford to ignore us; our issues do not generate negative revenue and that is, obviously, the only matter of import at Sony.
So, what can we do as a community to take action? The options are several, the first is for us all to leave the game and some have already chosen that option. However there are many who believe in the promise of what EQ2 could be, arguable more than the developers do. If Sony does not feel the Mystic, and more to the point, the player community to be of import in their decision making process, then we must take action that will make that inattention no longer financially or politically viable.
There is an adage that the squeaky wheel gets the grease; thing become adages for a reason. We saw a very visible, and I might add, effective demonstration of this when the Warriors held their Sit In in EQ 1. I would propose something of a similar nature, but perhaps a bit less stationary as EQ2 has no central point as the Plane of Knowledge was in EQ1. I would propose a march, from Qeynos to Freeport (or at least to the gates, no point in giving Lucien more stress than he already has), to be scheduled at a specific time and to be engaged in by everyone we can muster on each server.
My guild is small, we started decently sized but most have moved over to WoW, although some who still have accounts may come back for this. So if this is to work, it will pretty much fall to the auspices of the "uber" guilds on the various servers to buy in and rally their people to participate. I will do what I can to help organize, on Antonia Bayle at least, but I don't have the in game connections to rally large numbers. If we can't make it happen then the Developers will be effectively correct and our issues will be demonstrated as of little import in the larger picture. If we can, well, we may remind them that their games are played by people and not dollars.
Assuming we can generate a wave of interest in this, the next step is to make sure every site and gaming magazine is aware of this event. If it becomes not only an in game phenom, but an item of at least passing interest to the media, then Sony must deal with the advent of their disdain for their customer base being made obvious, with a public demonstration of the extent to which their customers must go to gain even rudimentary service.
It all boils down to whether we are here to whine and make petty arguments or whether we are willing to fight for a game that means something to us, even we no longer have meaning to those who have constructed it.
I await your response.

of course faarwolf is going to say cancelations arent a big sign to them, they certainly dont want people to leave cause they think it will make a diff.... discouraging leaving would make him more money...

If we dont complain... how will they know something is wrong?

I agree, and it sounds like fun also. Someone needs to orginize, I don't have time to

1. get a list of names of all the leaders of all the top guilds with the most players on each server from the guild web pages.

2. create characters to rotate through each server and send an in-game mail to the leaders with details.

3. contact news media with details

It's that simple.

let me know when , i'll walk.

If one of the mystics gets aggro during this long trip who will heal them? We're gonna need some templars to help out. (I couldn't resist)

Not having played EQ1, I don't know about this Warrior's sit in.

I don't know if a march is going to do much good. Ideally, It would have to be done several times during prime times on nights and weekends on each server. Then, with enough shouts and ooc's I guess it could make itself known. Canned replys such as pointers to posts and websites could be pasted in and sent to anyone asking what was going on.

And after all that, Sony will just say, "we are going to take care of it, they just have to be patient a little while longer".

I played EQ1 during this warrior sit in, but what i don't remember is anything coming of it except for a bunch of people standing around looking at the 5k hp warriors who were sitting in even though the things that the sit in was designed to protest against were problems that occured with raiding and what not. There was not a single raid capable warrior on my server that engaged in the sit in, and in general it was a wholly unfruitful event.

Won't work...

Mystics are the least played healer-even if every person with a 30+ mystic cancelled they would only lose a handful of accounts.

Brings to mind mythics treatment of animists after one of their pvp updates.

Since animist comprised a whopping total of 10 for every 200 other classes(at 50) they chain nerfed the class into the ground till everyone who had one quit playing it. No reimbursement, no sorries, no nothing just kept nerfing the class till it was almost useless. If your the minority by a big % then who cares what happens to you?

Naek

According to the last time I checked the stats on Butcherblock, shockingly Mystic was the second highest played. I remember Templar was top, then Mystic, then it gets a little blurry. Think it was Templar, Mystic, Fury, Warden, Defiler, Inquisitor but seeing as how the stats page I checked is down, I cannot confirm. Just give me the date and time, sounds interesting.

On Highkeep, it's more like 3 to 1 for Templar to Mystic. /em shrugs. I bet if you were to look in the 30 to 40 level range you would see the disparity widen. The Mystic is not a bad healer at level 25 and less.
