View Full Version : Seriously, our haze line "completely" crap now?

Took a long soloing session (39 mystic) tonight in zek and looked up changes on encounters after different debuffs. Howl line works nicely even tho it's now needed to put same damage output as before mitigation change, fallacy worked also fine mostly used on lowering hp only cause can't trace str debuff affecting on combat hardly any way. Haze... well this blows. 15% speed reduction helped barely but after looking combat logs skill debuff part didn't really do anything, against same mobs with or without during combat was 1 or 2 more missed regular hits. Essentially making this spell practically worthless (delusion even more so). I ended up using only mourning even tho rooting is annoying. All in all it might be remotely usefull if you have good tank but on soloing I don't use it anymore except sometimes due habit. We can debuff mob max hp by 10-15% perhaps, reduce some str, 35% slow and 8% dps debuff with umbral trap. On paper seems nice but I could solo same mobs with or without these debuffs. Anyone else parsed more or same perceptions/feelings?

At 47, it's my opinion that most of your assesment stays true. Unless the monster is bottom of the green scale haze isn't going to make a tremendously big difference for you. I don't even debuff at all, except to pull and if it resists or not I don't care. This really only holds true for solo content though.

As a 46 Mystic / Monk combo the haze line has become encounter specific for me. With the combat debuffs included in the spell it proves quite useful on high blue and white mobs where the monk begins to get hit a little more often, haze makes the mob "feel" like a low blue mob (2 levels below).

I haven't parsed this out yet (which is why I said 'feel') but I can tell you that the difference is there in this scenario. The rest of the time or when in a full group I don't see any major benefit from the spell and typically drop the haze line, use the stat debuffs and occasionally mourning soul if the fight is starting to look a little bad.

DainAiyeren wrote:I don't see any major benefit from the spell and typically drop the haze line

Now we have wards, attendant, oberon, haze down into drain what next? Oh yea I'm going to suddenly forgot how to parry... geez.

I don't bother casting the haze line anymore. Just another spell not on my main toolbar. I use ... well I won't tell you what I use because honest to God I'm afraid they'll nerf that too.

Now, after some serious thinking trying to figure out why on earth they'd do this to the haze line of spells I've come up with an opinion. I think SOE is working on a future expansion pack. NOT adventure $4.99 pack, an honest to goodness expansion $59.99 pack, one that allows players to get to level 60 or whatever. Now, they should be able to get the player levels *eventually* to 200. So if haze is already so good as to debuff 5.2 levels off the mob, that doesn't leave them much, if any, room to grow this line of spells in future expansions. They would only be able to upgrade the level of mob it worked on. Who wants to pay $59.99 for spells that do nothing different than they do now except work on higher level mobs? Nobody. So they nerf it with the intention of selling it back to us over time in future expansions. Who wants to pay $59.99 to upgrade the spell to work on higher level mobs AND debuff even more than it now does? Every mystic looking for a freakin' bone. Well those that will not have already cancelled that is. So in other words, by the time I'm level 200 I will have my debuff of 5.2 levels back.

Just a stupid thought that popped into my head. Probably not even close to true. I'd make a good conspiracy theorist though.

Message Edited by Arfiniel on 05-04-2005 06:35 PM

HAHA http://everquest2.station.sony.com/expansions/desertofflames/

ok expansion cost is only $29.99, I was wrong on that point!

Message Edited by Arfiniel on 05-04-2005 06:40 PM

It's not complete crap, just sorta crap. I rarely even cast debuffs anymore when grouped....the templar keeps the whole group up effortlessly and I just dps the whole time *shrug*
