View Full Version : Help decide...

<DIV>Heya people!</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I have a somewhat hard decision to make. Ever since all of the nerfs and all of the thinking "Wow Im glad that warden came along so I know the group will stay alive..." Ive felt that my shaman just isnt any fun no more.</DIV> <DIV>Ive put ALOT of time into him even though hes just lvl 33 (my highest char so far). 5 heritages done, 3 almost complete (On Everling part on both Ghoulbane and Haddens earring). When it comes to access quests Ive done Zek-El (though not needed now after 30, I know), CoI, CoD, CH, ToV, Nek Castle. Ive done all of his AQs and thats something I was mighty proud of at the time cause I was done with AQ6 at lvl 23 I think. He is a patron and has contributed over 11k status to the guild so far.</DIV> <DIV>Now the thing is...  I dont enjoy grinding with him anymore. I dont see any light in the tunnel and that bothers me loads.</DIV> <DIV>I have another problem aswell. Of my group of friends I am the highest level so far. Im 33 mystic, they are 32(33?) berzerker, 26 pally and a 27 mage. The pally and the mage started playing some 3 days or so before Lu#7. I always thought that SoE will soon see their mistake and before those two make it up to my level he will be fixed so we can play together. Now I realize they are leveling way faster than I ever did and thats by soloing mostly.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Now Im in a situation where I need to chose if I stay with the Mystic and take another 2 years of "abuse" as I have before (I played a pally in EQ1 as my first ever char, started playing when Kunark came out) or instead play my Bruiser which I have put more or less no time in at all but whos atleast up to lvl 25 by this point.</DIV> <DIV>Sooner or later those guys will outlevel my mystic since I hardly play him much anymore and if I wanna keep up with them on the bruiser I need to play him full time.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>What to do what to do ?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Figured Id ask you all what you think. Keep on grinding and hope for a bone or go with another toon which is fun to play but might be a bit easy to play so he will probably see a nerf aswell ?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Constructive answer pls</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>/Angan, 33 Mystic</DIV>

It's hard to be optomistic and say 'grind it out' since it seems like a repeat of EQ1, but I don't  envy your decision. Will we eventually be "fixed"? Hopefully...whether that happens during LU9 or LU25 is anybodys guess at this point. Im guessing about the time of LU12 or 13. Don't forget...every class gets beaten with the nerf bat at one time or another. Some, however, get a gentle tap on the shoulder.....others get sodomized with the bat. <div></div>

<P>i agree.  other classes are going to see changes every now and then, and go through what feels like 'nerf' and 'non-nerf' periods.   i would try to just ride it out for now.  it's a long game...i mean in years...so we have to expect changes, and ups and downs.   </P> <P>consider taking a break from reading the what the boards say, and perhaps you wouldnt notice the negatives as much.  i tend to enjoy playing my mystic (lvl 40) more when i take a break from reading all that is 'wrong' with her!  i still have a ton of fun with friends, and can still perform my role well (i don't think they've noticed any difference anyway).  ok, so maybe my performance isn't as good as before...but it might be even better in a few months!   </P> <P>and nothing is wrong with playing an alt if you need a change, or feel it will be more fun for the time being.   just don't look at it so black and white :smileywink:   closer to 40 you get, the more people seem to slow down in lvling, or even out more as they reach 50.  when looking long-term, you have the flexibility to play alts, and catch up with friends if you want to play your mystic again (if that makes sense). </P>

If playng your mystic isn't fun anymore I'd play alt. Coming combat/priest changes will effect to lot of classes so there will be no safe class except clerics :p I'd play my alt as well but my playing time is limited so I raise and fall with my mystic... <div></div>

<DIV>Thanks all. Ive decided to stay with my mystic, In good or bad hehe.</DIV> <DIV>I do have a lvl 27 Bruiser alt that I play occationally but I dont want to grow too fond of him cause to be honest... they are hella good as they are now *shhh dont tell anyone* <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV>Ill keep up the Mystic spirit and try to gain some levels. Who knows... there still might be light in the tunnel even though its dim...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>/Anganthyr, 33 Mystic</DIV>

The point is that SOE has not done anything to foster LOYALTY in their customers.  They had the entire industry by the short hairs for a while, but now they are losing ground and will continue to do so unless they can correct a long standing corporate image of apathy toward their customers.</span><div></div>

<P>I have seen it said here a few times so I will repeat it.....take a break from these boards and actually PLAY your mystic.....then make a decision.  I am a level 49 mystic who only occassionally comes to these boards.  Does our haze line suck now? YUP.....but does it keep me from being effective? NOPE....</P> <P>Yesterday I was primary healer in a group in CT that did HoF ring event with a lvl 50 guardian, 48 mystic (me), 46 dirge, 44 coercer, 44 fury and 44 ranger.  We went on to finish the entire quest including defeating fright with that group.  Only had trouble twice when the tank got charmed and couldnt heal them .....but other then that never in the whole day got below 50 percent health.   Neither the fury or I even dented our power pools and it was a great fun day plus I dinged 49.  </P> <P>So yeah okay there are some things that need to be fixed...wont argue that point.   But I dont come here and focus on them....I play my character and play it well...having fun while I do it.  If your not having fun....by all means its time to switch.  But if your reading these boards about how broken we are and letting that dictate your fun...well thats on you.  I have been back up healer and main healer in groups since the day this game released and can do either effectively just need to adjust to the situation.</P> <p>Message Edited by Larryhg3 on <span class=date_text>05-09-2005</span> <span class=time_text>10:13 AM</span>

So you can heal when your group doesn't need a healer, grats.  There is nothing in HoF that requires a healer.  That's not challenging content.  You could probably take a Paladin as healer for that and be fine. There aren't many places at L50 that I can't be the main healer . . . . but guess what?  It's not because I am an adequate healer, it's because my tank ISN'T GETTING HIT.  This isn't what healing is all about, is it?  Standing around doing nothing because nothing needs to be done? I don't care about DPS.  I don't expect to have any as a Priest.  I gave that up for the ability to heal.  Unfortunately, I don't have that. My contributions in fights of a challenging nature are minimal.  Yea, that means Epic raids.  There really isn't much challenging content for L50's outside of those Epic raids, so that's what we have.  I don't expect to be the only healer on the MT in an Epic raid, but I expect to be an equal to any other healer there. I didn't come to the forums AT ALL until I hit my mid 20's and started wondering what I was doing wrong.  Templars were, all of a sudden, healing circles around me with little to no effort.  I wanted to know what I could do to improve myself.  As it turns out, it wasn't me. </span><div></div>

Actually sir my post was not meant for you but for the original poster.  In fact I was warning him to beware of posters much like yourself. I have been reading these forums long enough to realize that there is no changing your mind ....you are set in your opinion ....we just differ.  In my opinion the solution for you is quite simple.... You want to be a templar?........ROLL ONE.  Have a nice day. <div></div>

I did. That doesn't mean I'm willing to sit idly by while my L50 Mystic rots because of unkept promises. <div></div>
