<div></div><font size="4"><font face="Arial">There is a class representative poll in the "Lounge: Non gameplay" forum started by Faarwolf. I have just started to frequent the forums so I wouldn't know how to nominate, but I am sure the rest of you will have some good ideas. We could really use a lobbyist for ourclass that has some tact. First time posting and it won't let me put in a link for some reason or paste it. Probably just don't know what I am doing. Could someone reply with a link? The post is titled "Opinion Poll - what poster do you think of as representing each class?" </font></font><font size="4"><font face="Arial">Just thought I would give a heads up. I scanned the post and have not seen a mystic post yet. </font></font><div></div>

Does anyone else find it amusing to find that poll in the "non gameplay" forum ? <div></div>

This is a poll for a representative for each class, and I'm assuming they will be discussing class specific issues. Granted, gameplay will be a major topic, but as far as administering the poll etc, it's in the right forum.

I hope this has some deeper meaning than just an amusing poll. Would be nice if they are giving a few people direct lines to the devs. <div></div>

I can give you some insight, having held this position for the Shaman class in EQ1. You get a more or less direct line to one person, in EQ1 it was Brenlo. Basically you have a private forum where you can bring things to the attention of that person that would otherwise get missed. This was a lot more critical in EQLive because the different class communities grew up and centralized themselves on websites OTHER than the SOE forums. For the longest time, EQ1 classes didnt HAVE their own forums here. For instance, the EQ1 Shaman "main" forum was the Shaman's Crucible, hosted by Interrealms. If you needed Shaman answers, you went there. It has pro's and con's: On the plus side, bugs got fixed REALLY fast. Anything that was truly BROKEN, ie a spell that didn't cast, a mob that wouldn't pop . . . these types of things were typically corrected in a week or less. An EQ 2 Mystic example would be when Shadowy Attendant would cast but not pop the pet. On the other side, anything that TOUCHED balance was largely as it is now. Be it a nerf or a buff or a wish. Shaman in EQ1 are STILL fighting for some of the things I helped identify as serious balance problems for that class. An EQ 2 Mystic example would be the fact that Shadowy Attendant is completely worthless. Will it work for EQ2 ? I don't know. I suppose it depends on the Dev team. If they follow the same approach as the EQ1 Devs and stay away from direct interaction / discussion with the Reps, it won't work. The main source of contention in EQ1 was that we couldn't actually have a discussion with the people involved - only with Brenlo. It's like trying to negotiate a peace. While it's a good idea to have intermediaries begin the discussion, at some point the leaders must meet and talk. This is the step missing from the EQ1 implementation of Class Reps. It needs that step put into the equation. Sans that, the only thing we can expect from this is faster broken fixes. <div></div>
