<DIV>...I urge everyone to actually play your character some.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Lastnight one of my guilds mystics (we have several for some reason) was rerolling and quit his mystic because of what he read here. He thought his mystic was worthless and could not serve the healer job.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>After a little reassurance and begging, we took his 47 mystic, my 47 zerker, a 44 monk and 43 illusionist to Solusek's Eye to "gain lots of debt" as he expected. The 4 of us, well, I was not interested in hunting the heroric blues and whites at the beginning of the dungeon as any normal 4 man group would do, but instead we group invis'ed down to the fire giants and proceeded to kill everything in our path nearly non stop with him as our only healer. The only death we had was when our illusionist got 2 shot from an add that snuck up on him from behind.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>In fact, we did better lastnight with him as our only healer than the night before with 2 healers and a full 6 man group (had the same tank, same monk and illusionist with us).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>While I'm sure mystics aren't "as powerful" was they were prior to the patch, mystics still function.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Our other 2 mystics that were online didn't even realize there was a nerf until told and were perfectly happy.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Don't let the forumns ruin your game.</DIV>

And the Mystic was the weakest priest, and now even weaker. A direct healer and not much more. But I do appreciate the attempt to make us feel better.

i'm sure you did good, but i also agree that the chanter probably made a large difference. always loved grouping with chanters, keeps the mana up high and the amount of mobs low. makes things more ideal for debuffing and gives us the mana we need to keep going.

Like I mentioned, we had 1 death, the illusionist, when we got adds and we proceeded to kill 2 or 3 double up level 50 giants, which if you aren't aware, hit extremely hard and didn't wipe. We had the same illusionist and crew with 2 healers the night before and experienced a number of deaths. We even had the illusionist stop doing this thing from time to time to see how his mystic would do and we did fine. But in typical fashion, you, like my zerker buddies, my dirge (I have a 39 dirge) and my illusionists (I have a 45 illusionst as well) all believe they are the most nerfed and most useless class in game and will always look elsewhere for a groups success.

Interesting indeed. Then again, luck might have played a heavy roll. Case in point, I somehow became the only healer in a guild raid on Firemyst, (everyone was mentoring to 30 or 31, so everything was green or blue) and did decently when everyone stayed tight. On the other hand, I had a hell of a time keeping myself healed taking green heroics in TS (26-7 single giants), despite decent equipment (Adept 1 ward, AppIV heals/DoT/Debuff, Orange con armor with best stats I could find, etc). Sometimes it seems luck (and the tank) have alot to do with it. Glad to hear one of our ranks worked well for the senario though Padien, any encouragement at the present time sounds good to me. hehe <div></div>

Honestly I dont feel nerfed as many are saying.I am very effective in groups,raids and solo.I can and do solo ^^ blues in perma.I heal very well on raids and do great in groups.I dont much care for SOE messing with our class,but we are far from [Removed for Content],IMO Message Edited by Ironmaul1 on 04-20-2005 06:53 PM

Of course mystics aren't totally gimped, at the moment we have good avoidance (not for long), good mitigation, heals (worst ingame if brawler heals don't count) but still heals, somewhat good melee damage with maul and prophetic guard erm I think especially if you happen to have some imbued/proc items, dot's are quite ok as well. We still can debuff some whether it's worth of power I don't know. If you're happy as healer no probs for me, paladin just can heal better than you. The problem just is that mystics are now just mediocre class which doesn't shine in anything. If I Ievel rest 12 levels there is nothing really to gain. At least we we're able to debuff enough to notice it, now we can't do even that. <div></div>

In my mind, defining qualities of the shaman: wards and debuffs Well... we know how good the wards are, and we see what's happening with the debuffs. Can someone honestly tell me what our defining quality(s) are now? I'm not being sarcastic here, I'm honestly wondering. Thanks, 37 Mystic.

i'd just like to point out that one thing to consider is your equipment. http://eq2players.station.sony.com/en/pplayer.vm?characterId=213482202 i'm not 50 so i can't compare directly, but at almost 44 your equipment is easily far greater than what i'm running with, on a glance i don't think everyone have golden efreeti boots, and robes of the invoker. the mana regen with a chanter must've been awesome. <div></div>

Hmm, looks like a screaming mace (wouldn't know, don't have one), shiny brass shield (don't have won), and one of those uber caster robes that regens mana (Again, guessing, don't have one.) Judging by the uberness of the equipment I can see, I would suspect there are some gebs under that robe and other assorted high end goodies on your character. As another poster in another forum pointed out, this game is HIGHLY gear dependent. Top end gear can make up for a lot of shortcomings, especially mana regen for the power hungry mystic spells. Just my take on what I can see in the screenshot. Most mystics I would assume are not so well equipped. I couldn't even get a guild group. They asked a fury who was playing his alt to log off and then log in with his fury.

Ironmaul, What you have shown here is just plain wrong for 99.9% of the Mystics. How many people have Master level heals and buffs? [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot] few, I assure you. How many people have a Prismatic weapon? Almost none. What you have done is the equivalent to a Time geared Shaman soloing in Plane of Valor. Frankly, I'm still not buying the log. I don't buy that you sat there in combat with a mob for 40 minutes, I just don't. Even with SICK mana regen provided by your absolute top of the line gear, I'm still not even sure I buy that you managed to fight for that long. How many times did you die in this attempt? I note the logged message about debt being repaid. If you did do this, you are doing the Mystic community as a whole no favors. Unless of course you are offering to provide everyone with that sort of gear. :rolleyes: Given equivalent, class specific gear I'm sure that almost ANY class could do what you did there. We're all very impressed by your gear, less so by your "accomplishment". <div></div>

GEBS, Prismatic, Robe of the Invoker... the list goes on. Like Banditman said, I am very impressed by your gear. If we all had gear like that, I am sure that we all could duplicate your feats. I haven't given up yet, but all of this has made me very tired. I just haven't had the desire to log on this week. There could be other factors involved, such as all my friends hitting lvl 50 already and spending last week sitting LFG for MUCH longer than I'm used to, but this nerf sure didn't help my mood. I've actually been contemplating picking up a copy of WoW this week, which I played in Beta and frankly didn't like as much as EQ2. I guess time will tell.

Returning to Ironmaul's post, I wonder how well he would have fared (even ignoring his remarkably uber equipment) had the parry and dps changes been in effect. His logs show some nice parries and maul dps - two factors which SOE plans to nerf in the next LU. <div></div>

SOE intends to reduce the tank ability of priests to ensure our dps is less than scouts (Moorgard wrote, "fighters should tank significantly better than scouts, scouts should tank better than priests, and priests should tank better than mages.") - since our bear form and maul offer the most dps from a tanking perspective, I'm assuming our maul ability will be greatly reduced. <div></div>

I posted the logs after you questioned me,now you want to change course and say blah blah its all gear. All Im saying is My Mystic ( for me ) does not suck as much as everyone else's experience.I only posted because I dont want to see alot of Mystics rerolling.Sooner or later we will get fixed.I wasnt posting to brag but more to ease a few minds that at the high end its not that bad. So take it leave it guys, its a challenging class but worth it. Peace out

Just a quick count on Ironmaul's last battle there and I counted 20-ish parrty/riposte's (just in the sample he showed us). You pretty much have to assume all those would/will hit under the new soon to be system. So at 20x250=5000 more damage taken. I expect our avoidance to be cut in 1/2 and midigation to be about the same which would add to damage taken. I don't think they will nerf maul other then perhaps taking out the dot effect after it hits since they just boosted it. Ironmaul is Himdall on Permafrost, and is a friend of mine. It's true that he is well equipped, and if anyone is capable of legitimately soloing blue heroic mobs, be it for fun or whatever, it's him. I am probably better equipped still, and never would have dreamed of soloing giants in PF, because they seem to beat my [Removed for Content] pretty well just training to vox's room :smileysad:. But if I wanted to I probably could. Big deal yes, because no way in hell would I have been able to do it back when I was leveling up. Even if I mentored down to simulate me killing giants for exp, I'd be very surprised if it would be both managable and worthwhile to do. That said, I don't want to give up on this class. Even though I'm bored atm I'm not going to just throw my Mystic away and forget about her. There will be improvements in the future, and I'm just really trying to believe SOE (getting harder every day) that the big picture is important and that we had to get worse before we got better, for whatever balance they're trying to achieve.

All people are trying to say Eloora is that Ironmaul in no way is representative of the true state of the Mystic sub-Class. He is trying to represent Mystics as being "challenging but balanced". I'm sorry, I don't buy that. ANY CLASS with gear of that calibre could do what Ironmaul did. ANY CLASS. In fact, I'd wager that MOST classes could do considerably MORE, perhaps even soloing white heroics. I don't know. I just galls me to see someone who has reached endgame, doing so against a completely different background of content, comes here and tells us that the problem is us. <div></div>

No where did I say we were balanced,I also said my main point was that while we are playing a very challenging class, that I hope we dont have folks rerolling over the difficulties And never once did I once say I was of average gear and or level,I just said for myself,I dont find myself gimped in raids groups or solo.Regardless of my gear level etc, that is a truth for me.Then you called me out saying you wanted logs,which all you have done is complain since ,and not a word of ohh my bad you accually did that, it has been all hate excuses and accusations.Just keep hatin and being bitter man, noones making you play a Mystic.I find it quite challenging =)

Guys, Please ease up on the abuse of Ironmaul. I personally found it interesting to see what a well geared mystic can solo in the endgame. Gives us something to aspire to :smileytongue:. Having said that, I'm probably going to shelve my Mystic and cancel my subscription (which runs out in June) until Mystics are actually fun to play again. I don't really mind what tools SOE gives us to make the class fun in the future, but it sure isn't fun at present. Daric Level 38 Mystic Najena Server

Yes, we can hope that some uber guild will take pity on us and drag us through raid after raid, praying for Master chests to drop things that only a Mystic can use. That'll work real well. We've been down this road before in EQLive. Remember? We had Shaman telling us "wait til you get Balance of the Nihil, Daluda's Mending and Breath of Trushar". Or . . . "You just need to get the IH item from Vxed". Well, yea, that's all good . . . except for the fact that we couldn't even get CLOSE to strong enough healing for the zones where those spells dropped, and the spells were NODROP flagged. We had to pray that someone would drag us thru all those encounters so we could then be a 2nd rate healer who STILL couldn't heal his way thru those zones but wasn't quite as [Removed for Content] in easier content. It's all so familiar it makes me sick. <div></div>

And I thought I was cynical.... :smileytongue: Maybe I've just reached my limit of drunken forum tirades. I can't muster much emotion for the state of our class anymore, it's very dualistic and subjective. Some think we rock and some think we suck (extreme terms used for....well, cause 4 letter words are easy). I've grown to see both sides of the argument, and for now I'm just gonna sit on the fence. There are times where I feel like I've saved the day, and times where I feel that I contributed nothing by being there. Just accept that Mystic is the manic-depressive priest class, with skill and luck being your medication. Regards,

What comes to Ironmauls logs, more or less 1 single heal and regular melee/maul/procs + mourning soul was it... The whole key is power regen here and perhaps master heal. Not saying that not well done or anything else but unfortunately heavily gear dependant not mystic skill dependant. Now put roughly same stuff to paladin/defiler/any other priest and same result. Tactic is simple as it is, to overlast mob. For me this only encourages to equip your character well especially with power regen stuff. But still think about those items in the hand of the warden or templar for example with having heals 2-4xefficient than our heals... But if the coming changes going through, lower avoidance, maybe lower block, no parry, possibility to reduce overall debuffs even more, DPS overhaul (not sure will get less or more here). I'm not very confident that we're in better shape after those changes least comparing to old situation. But if they ever manage to make wards work like reactives (stacking/blocking all/mitigation) then perhaps we have hope but don't hold your breath while waiting it because you'll be long dead before that happens. <div></div>

It's about time, they are enough useless healer classes running around already. Shaman's are never supposed to be the primary healer, and it's about time Sony stepped in and nerfed them. Druids need nerfs too, there is an overabundance of healers, on almost all servers. 1 is enough for a party, the rest of you, are taking up server bandwidth. <div></div>
