View Full Version : Slowing versus Weakening

<DIV>The posts I am reading now seem to talk of the wonders of slowing while almost ignoring the weaken debuff line. Slowing 10 or 15% sounds useful, especially considering that the tank is regenerating a little of the reduced damage.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>However, there are times when <U>after</U> I debuff the mob can no longer hit the tank significantly, and I no longer have to do any warding or healing for the fight. Surely this is a testament to the skill and armor of the tank too, and isn't going to happen on lots of encounters. Nevertheless, slows just couldn't do that, they would only mildly reduce the number of hits and not reduce their effectiveness.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So why is everyone so focused in on slows lately? Is it a level dependent thing, and/or the lack of an AOE weaken?</DIV>
Because if you read our slow description, you'll see it does more than slow. It also reduces their offensive skills, which makes them fight at 1 or more levels lower, further weakening them. The Strength debuffs of our weakening spells are FAR less noticable.

<DIV>Now that you mention it, after the original slow spell, it says that, but it never seemed to get quantified. What I read about the parsed slowing results seemed to count up just the number of swings, but then it was a lot to read through so I could well have missed something.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>And unfortunately the Stamina debuff portion of the Delusion line is currently broken.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>In my posts titled "By the numbers" in the Shaman forums, you'll find a lot of data about Wailing Haze, Keening Haze, Grim Lethargy, Delusion and Fallacy.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>Gee, if they just fixed that and threw in an AOE weaken (strength reduction alone would do here), that could make wards tolerable right there.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>How about the Cry of the Ancients line? Is the stamina reduction broken there too, as that is the only defensive benefit of the spell?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

I rarely cast it unless I feel the resist debuffs would be worth it to the group.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>
