<DIV>Its a pretty common thing.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Often spells you get aren't really "upgrades" until a few levels later.  Take Smite and Gray Wind for instance.  When you first receive Gray Wind, it's supposed to be an "upgrade" to Smite.  In the early stages, its a VERY dubious upgrade, in fact Smite is often a superior spell for a few levels.  But, as it gets more and more levels behind it, Gray Wind becomes the clear winner.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'd try to put a few levels (and upgrades) under my belt and compare again.  I really think that you will find Runic come into it's own as many spells do after the passage of time and experience.</DIV>

<DIV>Runic Shield is NOT an upgrade to Badger actually.  I forgot to check if the spell description for Runic Shield got changed this patch, but the two spells do slightly different things, and they STACK.  Badger is Str+AC, and actually provides a bigger AC boost than Runic Shield does when you first get the spell.  Runic Shield is Sta+Power+AC.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>Hah!  Well disregard my post above.  Here is the line from the patch notes regarding Runic Shield:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>"- Runic Shield had its description changed to be more clear."</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Well actually the description stayed exactly the same.  What changed is the spell itself.  It IS the upgrade to Badger now, and no longer affects Stamina.  My App 3 version of Runic Shield does provide more Str than my Adept I Badger, but less AC at lvl 32.  Strangley the AC component "sorta" stacks for the 2 spells, while the Str and Power components do not.  What I mean by "sorta" is, having both Badger and Runic Shield up gives me the same AC as Badger alone.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>Umbral Fortitude replaces Spiritual Seal.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I don't think Prophetic Guard has a direct replacement.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>In general, look at the icon of the spell to get some idea of what it might replace.  It's not a "works every time" rule, but it does work a lot.</DIV>

Have you checked courage adept I recently?I stopped using this buff completely as it no longer has any effect on AC when I've used it. They also changed the spell text to where ".. defense .." has been omitted from the description to go along with the AC nerf.
