I bribed a sage to make me Spectral Ward app4 (Sage got sweet deal: I provided materials for 7 tries + 1g on success. No wonder that he skipped his group and made my spell). Now I am interested about how much better app4 version is compared to app3 I had previously? I am currently at level 26 so spell is green to me, but I still do not have better single wards to use.Has anyone tested difference between app3 and app4?

From what I have gathered from reading some other threads, the new App4 is equivalent to the old App3. It appears that SOE added in a new level of spells below the old App3.

Well, test server update log says that app4 wards should have more power. From update log of 6th day:"Apprentice IV ward spells can now absorb an increased amount of damage"

I haven't done any parsing of the actual damage absorbed, but appr4 is less power to cast than appr3.

Things have seriously gotten bad with Spectral Ward. I don't have any current parses of App III Spectral, but in December.. mid 20's shaman with App3 Spectral, they averaged about 800-850dmg per ward and they did last their full duration.Various nerfs and bugs have probably also come around since.. I appologize for not having any more current App3 logs as I havent drug out this mystic in a long while (he's mid 20's). The Dec 13th App3 log is as follows:(1103003540)[Mon Dec 13 21:52:20 2004] You bathe xxxxxx in a spectral ward.(1103003539)[Mon Dec 13 21:52:21 2004] Your ward absorbed 230 points of damage!(1103003542)[Mon Dec 13 21:52:22 2004] Your ward absorbed 96 points of damage!(1103003542)[Mon Dec 13 21:52:22 2004] Your ward absorbed 96 points of damage!(1103003545)[Mon Dec 13 21:52:25 2004] Your ward absorbed 139 points of damage!(1103003545)[Mon Dec 13 21:52:25 2004] Your ward absorbed 139 points of damage!(1103003550)[Mon Dec 13 21:52:30 2004] Your ward absorbed 21 points of damage!(1103003550)[Mon Dec 13 21:52:30 2004] Your ward absorbed 131 points of damage!(1103003551)[Mon Dec 13 21:52:31 2004] The spectral ward fades.App III Spectral = 852 Damage (dropped in 11 seconds)On Jan 8th, I got an AppIV Spectral Ward and proceeded to pull him out, scribe it and test on several mobs. So far, the results aren't too positive:(1105219731)[Sat Jan 08 13:28:51 2005] You bathe xxxxxxx in a spectral ward.(1105219736)[Sat Jan 08 13:28:56 2005] Your ward absorbed 403 points of damage!(1105219736)[Sat Jan 08 13:28:56 2005] The spectral ward fades.App IV Spectral = 403 Damage (dropped in 5 seconds)(1105248601)[Sat Jan 08 21:30:01 2005] You bathe xxxxxxx in a spectral ward.(110524860[Sat Jan 08 21:30:08 2005] Your ward absorbed 42 points of damage!(1105248616)[Sat Jan 08 21:30:16 2005] Your ward absorbed 181 points of damage!(1105248620)[Sat Jan 08 21:30:20 2005] Your ward absorbed 65 points of damage!(1105248623)[Sat Jan 08 21:30:23 2005] Your ward absorbed 66 points of damage!(1105248627)[Sat Jan 08 21:30:27 2005] Your ward absorbed 81 points of damage!(1105248627)[Sat Jan 08 21:30:27 2005] The spectral ward fades.App IV Spectral = 435 Damage (dropped in 26 seconds)My log also had a few other- single 400+ absorbs and immediate fall with App4. I really wish I would have logged some tests with App3 prior to scribing as this would resolve if the massive difference between December App3/Jan AppIV is due to the new AppIV or months of nerfs. If anyone with App3 can throw in some current logs, this might resolve where the nerf/bug lies.
