I wish I had the text from the spell description, maybe someone can provide it. I was under the impression it was strictly a buffer, though. Again, I can't be sure since it didn't do anything in beta but stand around looking cute. =p- As far as the buffs go, it appeared that the pet buffs not only the caster, but the group as well. I'm pretty sure it said "beneficial spells" - so maybe buffs, or even heals/wards? - The pet has a short duration ~3 mins or so, so the cost is one of power not concentration. It wasn't too pricey power wise. It's stationary and remains where summoned. I did notice it would zone with me when I zoned, even if out of range; but once at the new zone line it was stationary again.
