The title says it all...I have not met one yet,,lvl 21 atm but my friend has and thinks they are the Fury's nemesis class with the interrupts their pets cause. Is she right or is there a way to handle them?

My record against them is not good ( though I have never fought one that was lower than yellow to me one on one) .I will say that the key is to throw a quick dot on the nec and then debuff and nuke the crap out of the pet.If you can get rid of the pet fast enough the necro is dead, though it is easier said that done at times.

I can't speak for lower levels but at higher levels necros can be beat consistently.

1. Max out your poison and disease (80%). That way its basically just you versus there pet.

2. Make sure you get Ring of Fire up and keep it up so that there swarm pets die in a matter of seconds.

3. Fight the pet, not the player.

As soon as the fight starts make sure you have there pet targeted and get Ring of Fire up as quickly as possible. Once you kill off there pet, get as much damage on them as you can before they get there pet back out. If you can't kill them before they get there next pet out, make sure to retarget the pet as soon as it comes out and refocus on killing it again. Make sure to keep your health near full even if you have to burn some mana to do it.

This strat has worked for me tons of times and I have yet to lose a battle against a necro since maxing my poison and disease.

The same strat above works against conjurors, except you have to max your cold and heat and get your magic close to max as well.

Pickme (70 Fury / 65 Jeweler) <Amend> Blackburrow

Sometimes what I do is not attack and only heal and move. That way I get max heal and let his power get down. Then take on pets. Get swarm pets first since they interupt so much then make a decision on the necro or the pet. Prob is the pets have a ton of hps later so I found kill the pet doesn't really work well. I have my 2h blunt maxed and have a staff that hits for about 100hps so it can hurt a necro fairly well. Also get a imbued chest piece that will heal you with all the hits you get. Don't be afraid to run either. I'll do pact of cheetha and get necro to chase and he has to sprint and loses that power quickly then stop cast regen and let em fly. I have 50% sucess agianst them and yes I do fear them somewhat.

One of my 2 pvp characters is a Necro. Necros are very good at that level till level 24 when they get there master 2 lifetap. After that necros go down substantially in the Bad [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] category.

Against any caster i open up with seizing thorns stiffling em for 8 secs they go [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] i nuke and get some dots in they die in 10-20 secs.

I spose you can precast ring of fire before the duel starts.

quetzaqotl...

I think you are forgetting a couple things...

1. The necro has a scout pet. This makes it extremely difficult to just blast the necro to death because of all the interrupts.

2. After the 8 second stfile wears off the necro has a number of things they can do to stop you from killing them, including stun, fear, lifetaps, and swarm pets.

3. If the necro gets there swarm pets on you along side there scout pet you will have a hard time getting any spell off including your quick spells.

Also Ring of Fire cannot be precast before the duel starts. If you pre-cast it, it won't do any damage.

Pickme (70 Fury / 65 Jeweler) <Amend> Blackburrow

Swarm pets are just a dot with graphics, and easily curable with cure poison.
If the necro has anything but a tank pet, kill pet first.
If the necro has a tank pet, go after necro.

Message Edited by Rutabegah on 04-30-2006 05:53 PM

K yeah I dont duel often but I have duelled summoners before and they were dead quite fast, the first 8 sec stiffle is very valuable when fighting casters getting your dots in will interrupt em like crazy and yeah the pets are nasty you have to cure fast and heal fast but you can keep long enough to get em dotted down, summoners are the toughest casters i agree but I didnt have too much trouble with em here.

Bad record against Necros with my 40 Fury.

Things I've noticed if you're going one on one:

If you *know* you have just decent/average or worse poison and disease resist, I recommend running.

If you are gonna tough it out, here's a few options:

The swarm pets are easily cured with a quickie Cure Poison blast, this will make casting much easier and you taking less damage. At this point, DotHeal yourself and work on the necro or run that pet (and necro) away and try to kill it, snaring it/DOT'ing it up as you keep your distance (avoiding damage) and delivering the big Magic nuke to finish. Also using the AA AE Root works nice, keeps the pet off you, at least for a bit. Trying to kill the pet with the Necro working on you has been suicide so far. If you have good poison/disease resist, you may have better luck.

For me, at lvl 41, on PvP, I can usually PK a necro well. depends on necro's pet. Tank pet, with all the taunts, is hard to keep on necro. scout pet and caster pet interrupt.

I can say that when they cast pack, USE YOUR CURE! one cure poison, and the rats go bye-bye. Your cures can be a life saver for you. the interrupts are the bane of us though with our long cast times.

A good necro will try to keep you interuppted, stifled, and stunned; be aware of this and use your emergency HoT, Feral Tenacity, and Pact of the Cheetah when you need to escape a certain and/or apparent death.
