<div></div><div>Hello, thanks for helping a newb. Just starting this game and i am definitely playing a fury. Which race would you most advise since intelligence seems to matter now for damage , according to what i have read? Everyone seems to play wood elfs so i am just curious why a high elf would be a bad pick compared to a wood elf?</div>

<div></div><p>The further you progress in the game the less important race becomes.</p><p>Your gear will have a far greater impact on your stats than your race.</p><p>Play the race you want to play and dont look back.</p>

<div>I agree, everyone who starts the game seems to dither about what race to select, but it really does not matter, pick the race that most appeals to you.</div><div>I chose a Dark Elf myself as I think it embodies the true nature of the Fury.</div><div> </div><div>Good luck!</div><div> </div><div>Ucinea - 60 Fury</div><div>Permafrost</div><div>Europa Guild</div>

<div>I play a high elf fury and have had no qualms with my race choice.  I think you should just choose a race that best fits you, or the class you have chosen. </div><div> </div><div>Mystral</div>

<div></div><p>I chose a high elf also, for the sole reason that I LONGED to be a high elf druid in EQ1. I'm happy with my choice, no qualms here. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></p><p>Like the above posters said though, race makes hardly a difference at all in the higher levels. The biggest difference is racial traditions, but even those aren't a huge deal.</p>

<div>INT is also very easy to upgrade via gear, so it doesn't really matter what your starting stat for INT is.  I chose a halfling partly because old EQ1 habits die hard, but also because they also have nice AGI.  INT wasn't even a factor back then so it didn't enter into my decision at all.  Now, at lvl 46 my INT is higher than my WIS (buffed mind you, Vim adds quite a bit).  I think my INT is ~ 210 or so and my WIS is around 185.  That's totally by accident too since I didn't really pay attention to stats, I just made my gear from all the roots I had.  So definitely play whatever race you like.  Not sure about high elves, but halflings get an aggro reducing racial ability (gnomes do too) which has come in handy a few times.</div>

Halfling is the only real choice.<div></div>

<div></div><p>initially, a high elf is a good choice they have both hi int and wis.  on the isle you'll be able to really boost those stats as well if you keep goin after the named's dropped loot.</p><p>I have a hi elf fury as well.  below 20 i had a good time playing due to my stats.  and yes, at higher levels, you will notice no race differences unless you all play nekkid. but, i still have good time playing as well post 20.</p><p>keep in ming agi and sta help also, so when upgrading equipment, if you cant get wis and/or int stats on items, go for agi and sta to keep you alive if you get hit.</p>
