portals and you a mini-guide to druid rings there have been some questions about these, so i thought i'd make a little guide to share the info.for a druid to obtain his portal spell, he must first visit the ring he wants to open a portal to and be level 25. there are currently 5 rings that you can open a portal to. these can be found in the following locations (i will post /waypoint loc later when i am logged in and can get them): antonica (loc: -2205, -24, -695) - located just east (and down the hill into the forest) of the KoS spire in the northeast corner of antonica commonlands (loc: 684, -59, -100) - the same old druid ring it always has been. it is south-southeast of the nek forest griffon station in the commonlands. this is around where the lightbringer wisp roams, and where rama'nai is. if you've done "the return of the light", you probably know where this is. butcherblock (loc: 12, 180, 575) - after you come up the ramp from the docks, go east. you should be able to find it without going too far. greater faydark (loc: 212, 12, -4) - in the middle area of the zone near tunare's sapling. the acorn lift by this ring is right next to the building that the tunare prophet is in. steamfont (loc: 23, 92, 1267) - far west central area of the map once you arrive at the ring, you must gather the shrub there. this will give you a quest for that ring that requires him to speak to a portal trainer (loc below). the portal trainer in greater faydark can update this for you, as well as the trainer in your home city. the portal trainer in qeynos can be found with the celestial watch in north qeynos. take a right as you come down the stairs (loc: to be updated). after speaking to the portal trainer, you must hail them a second time. they will then open a portal to that ring and give you a leaf. go through the portal back to the ring and "use" the leaf. you will then be granted the spell for that ring (found in the "spells" section of your knowledge book).portal trainers:greater faydark (loc: 110, 91, 49 - with the priest trainers in the treehouse citynorth qeynos (loc: 504, -32, -241) - with the celestial watch in north qeynosnorth freeport (loc: -75, -10, -132) - with the dismal rage in north freeporthaven (loc: -55, -73, -166) - with all of the archetype trainers for another player to use your portal, they must have visited the ring of interest and gathered from the shrub there. they don't have to do a quest or anything, and they only need to visit the ring and collect the shrub once. after they've collected the shrub, they can use any druid's portal to return to that ring at any time. portals can be opened anywhere (as far as i can tell), have a 60 second recast (all on the same refresh timer), and last for 60 seconds.
Message Edited by Crimson Dragon on 11-30-2006 11:28 AM

Message Edited by Crimson Dragon on 02-04-2007 11:19 AM

Would be great if they made port spells for some of the other places that have druid rings like Zek and Everfrost. The EF one is underwater near Perma, would be kind of funny porting there. Not sure if there is one in EF or EL? Should be one in Ro since there was one there in eq1.

well, hopefully they'll implement more of them, but i'm not complaining with what i've got. i get around quite well, and you know when they give with one hand they take away with the other. i'd hate to see the recast timer increased just because we got more portals.

I'd like to see one in lesser faydark. That zone is a pain to get to atm.

i'd rather they left them the way they are.when they give with one hand, they take away with the other.the five places we have are fine, and the portal spells are working just fine, thanks! :smileyvery-happy:

DoF matches up with the lore just fine since these areas had druid rings before. They just need to be reclaimed. KoS never did however and doesn't need one with the spires (even on PvP). I don't think DOF is easy to get to. The zoning to QH/EFP alone is killer with all the lag...
