What do you guys think is better a shield or a orb in your free spot. I can't seem to decide on if a how much a shield will help me. so I haven't bought one yet. I figure in a group the orb would be better. But I wanted to know how much it really helps.

All depends what shield, what orb?

If you have the 800+ protection shield dropping from Bonemire event, I'd certainly use that shield when I feel to tank. A shield isn't really needed if you pvp ( you have sandstorm to keep melee classes away from you, it's alot better than a shield ) and if you solo ( best way to solo heroic nameds etc is root and dps to mob heaven ).

So an orb would be better in raid and no tank mode. Consider that a warden is a really good rooter and got very nice dps. I've never seen a mage tanking mobs with a shield, I think the warden should follow this example. Keep the mobs and enemies away from you and nuke em. An orb with FT is nice, also an orb with a ward on it like the "Enspelled Vultak Eye" is nice for solo'ing, it ward you when you nuke so you are safe for eventually dots till you cure it.

Try a few things with both a shield and with a usefull orb, always best way to find out things.

if you're fighting in melee range, get a good buckler.if you're rooting and nuking, get something to max out your int.my thoughts.:smileywink:

Nice item. Any chance it can go into the ranged slot?

I have extensively tried the soloing styles for a Warden using both Str and Int AA lines etcI feel we are the single most effective priest solo class by a landslide and I give examples of how good i feel we are solo. For pvp I play on a regular server so cannot extensively comment, but I havent lost a duel yet but the setup was varied depending on the class i was fighting (up the avoidance and mitigation for melee classes, or resists for the specific casters, or resists and FT for priest classes)Battle Druid wannabe tank - Having geared up to 3400 mitigation and 40% avoidance (48% with using sandstorm), full line of Str and Sta AA, I could successfully melee fight any mob up to and including level 67 heroic 3^^^ but not the named. Named mobs i could successfully kill up to level 64^^^ heroic. The style of soloing used was pure tanking, melee was on the entire time and heals, nukes used as often as possible. What usually killed me when i was trying the harder heroics was the demands on healing power which took away from my ability to DPS.Sly Wolf and cunning fox root, snare and resist druid - Getting resists over 6k for any particular mob i was killing, keeping FT at 35 and power to a maximum and using master 1 single or group roots, master nukes and full Sta and Int (critical hit) AA. I have successfully completed solo the entire Nest of the Great Egg instance including killing the chamberlain at the end which took me 20 minutes to kill. I have also successfully completed Poets Palace which was a significantly easier achievment. The named fights at the end were on level 67 heroic ^^^ which had special damage abilities on top of the regular class abilities. I have yet to try my skills on further zones but my next target is to try and solo a dragon at the top of PoA.

LOL....to use up your status on one of those, you need to hope that said pesky healer and their group has put all their buffage faith in spells, and none in gear.

I always roll with a shield, the only time i switch it out is for raids and I replace it for FT gear.
