<DIV>This was posted by Lockeye in response to an Enchanter issue:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> <DIV>"Since yesterday, I've been collecting feedback, observing in-game, and testing the overall impact of the changes and trying new changes out. I don't have an answer yet to what any changes will be, so I won't have an answer to the many questions that get asked as I'm working on investigating the issues thoroughly<FONT color=#ffcc33> (It's much more productive to investigate and fix problems than spend time answering questions and not have anything get done)</FONT>. I’m here to ensure that the combat system is balanced and working properly, and I make adjustments as needed."</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>...which explains why the communication we have been craving is not forthcoming.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I do agree with him. If the devs stopped to answer every single question on the board, they'd never get anything done.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>However - this is not the same thing as refusing to provide us with a 'State of Your Class" message from time to time - to let us know what's up. Did you hear our issues and complaints? Did you read posts such as Caerwyn's consolidated thread? Is anything going to be done? Ballpark time period?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>This kind of interaction cannot possibly take much more than 5 minutes every couple of weeks. I think the majority of Wardens posting on these threads are mature, patient people - who are very interested in helping shape the state of our treasured virtual community. I'd love to see some communication with devs reflecting that. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV></DIV>

<DIV>Well i do agree we should have some feedback, but imagine being a dev.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>You have 6 healer classes, and they all have issues and want a status report of some kind.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>You go look at some boards, and it looks like a pack of enraged rats are fighting over a pile of trash, and if you DARE say something they don't like, you are getting a whine fest, insults, people saying they quit etc.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Now if you skip those classes and post on the other boards, you have a problem, you still get the whine fest insults etc, because you ignored a class.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>What will you do? shut the hell up and do your best, or get the whine fest started?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If all healers had a thread like the warden's healing consolidation thingy, they would all get a reply, and feed back. But as long as a few refuse to act as adults, no one is getting dev's friendship <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV>
Simple solution. All they need to do is start a new thread, post the issues they are looking at, or a confirmation of yes/no its an issue, whatever it may be, and then lock the thread on their way out. Sure more threads can spring up, but less likely. I am sure we will still have questions, but atleast by doing this, they buy themselves some time, reduce the hassle the mods have to deal with, give us an idea of what they are doing, and probably save membership in the long run.

The only reason the rabid rats spring up is because of a perceived lack of being heard. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I would really like to know that </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>A) they've heard the issues </DIV> <DIV>B) they are/are not looking at them </DIV> <DIV>C) they will/will not do something about them and </DIV> <DIV>D) when.<BR></DIV> <DIV>I'd even forego D) for the first 3. If we could know these things - I'm sure that 99.9 percent of us would be content with whatever was said. Anyone who flamed an information post would deserve the Wrath of the Hamster.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>This would go a long way to helping overcome the dearth of Customer Service offered by this company. It's slow attrition, but I think many of us just fade away instead of continuing to complain.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>mmm lemme give you an example.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I have to prepare a big raid. first time we do it, a lot of people want to come.</DIV> <DIV>Of course right now not everyone is lvl 60.</DIV> <DIV>So I procede to take the classes we need the most, and take the higher lvls in those classes.</DIV> <DIV>I post the groups on our forum.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I receive a bunch of iritated tells from people who think they should go instead of XYZ.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>A little while later, some people say they can't be there, so we have to replace them.</DIV> <DIV>Once again, those who are not selected whine.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Then, someone informs me i forgot to put in 2 members, i look them up, someone told me they wouldn't be available for RL reasons, but now someone else is telling they will be available on raid day, just not until then. So to be fair to them, I place them in the raid, and have to remove some to make room. I am still proceing by taking in the classes we need with the highest lvls first, and those removed are probably [Removed for Content] off.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So what did i do all that time? Try to make sure the raid will be a success. What happens on the side? with every change i made to the raid configuration (and i HAD to do it) i made people angry or frustrated.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Same goes for a dev. if he posts something, some people will complain. Then if he has to change something about what he posted, more will get mad. So he better only post the final results.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Only way this could really work, would be to give a few people per board "special access" to a thread with such dev infos. Those special people could then pass the info to the others, and get [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn]ed at if things change <img src="/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV><p>Message Edited by Naithik on <span class=date_text>11-12-2005</span> <span class=time_text>09:52 AM</span>
