Wardens are still very effective solo characters. The recent healing update gave us back our ability to be main healers, and imo increased the fun factor again. Our desirability for raids is still up in the air, the recent heal changes are still new, and we need some work on raid utility. Whether you like or dislike the changes is a personal choice. Some like it, some hate it. Before the recent changes alot of people were unhappy, but that seems to have changed.

Arathania - 58th Warden

I solo heal, I duo heal, I dps and switch to healing when needed in groups with three healers. My guild loves me, and after the recent heal changes I am pretty satisifed with my character. Whatever you do, plan to banish to the distant past your pre-CC expectations and methods, and plan to suck for the first week+ as you find out how wardens work now. I think wardens are great, particularly in group settings, oh and we are no longer capable of drawing aggro from a good tank, unlike shamans and clerics =D. And if you decide to come play eq.serverwide.warden has tons of experienced 60 wardens who are, at least imex, been super friendly and helpful.
