<DIV>A few thoughts and questions about Ensnaring roots.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>First I just got the spell and have only been able to test it on a limited basis. As far as I can tell it is not overly effective (at app 1). Is it worth upgrading to higher levels of this spell?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Secondly, it's my understanding that kiting is not intended to be a usable tactic, has this focus changed or going forward is this going to be the rule to follow?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thirdly if kiting is not going to be a usable combat tactic what is the point of snare except to keep mobs from running?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Fourth and finally, has anyone ever seen a monster run when it was low on HP?</DIV>

<DIV>I have posted on this before but I'll say it again...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Ensnaring Roots is broke. It doesnt snare the mob at all, in combat, out of combat, nothing. My 1st true disappointment about this game. What a waste of a spell. I have upgraded this to adept I and no difference was noticeable.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV><p>Message Edited by Terrorus on <span class=date_text>11-25-2004</span> <span class=time_text>10:40 AM</span>

<DIV>Thanks for the information, I didn't see that it was broken although I had looked at a number of other threads.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>When they fix it I wonder how it will impact gameplay for wardens.</DIV>

Snare is by far the least important component of that spell. It's the agility debuff that makes it worthwhile, and anecdotal evidence supports that the agility debuff component is happening.Frankly, I dont' care if something is snared or not. I've not yet actually been in a situation where I said "gee, I wish I could get this mob snared!".

<DIV>yes, from what i have noticed the debuff actually does something but the speed reduction from the snare blows (at adept 1) it seems easier to hit the mob with the agility debuff but it may just be coinsidence</DIV>

<DIV><FONT face=Arial>caerwyn,</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial>im not sure how to break this to you, but the spell is called "Ensnaring roots" so the snaring part would be the most important part of the spell. Granted it may be a great debuff for agi, so I suppose they should change the name of the spell....wouldnt you think?</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial>If it doesnt snare, don't call it that or say it does.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial> </DIV></FONT>

/sighI know the name of the spell. I know what it is supposed to do, and yes, I agree that it is broken. However. Given that they will go out of their way to prevent kiting, which is frankly the primary purpose of a snare spell since it's not really very good for crowd control, snare is useful in, really, one situation- running away. What I stated was that I had never come across a situation where I wished that I could snare the mob, and therefore that the brokenness of Ensnaring Roots actually bothered me, as in the vast majority of situations the agility debuff was what I was interested in from the spell anyway- "most important part of the spell" or not.It should snare, yes. If they don't want it to, then yes, they should remove that part of the explanation and change the name. But given the more pressing broken issues, this isn't one I'm going to complain loudly about right now. Fix Blessing of the Grove first...

<DIV>Definitly doesn't snare. I snared a con grey rat and out of the pair the snared one ran to me just as fast as the unsnared one.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I was using Adept 1 as well, mmmmm...broke? Devs?</DIV>

Ensaring roots works fine.I have the master 1 version of it, it is a increase it how effective it is.It is not a 100% snare, it does slow the movement of mobs, and it does make the creature easier to hit because of the agility debuff.Get the master 1 version if you do not think it works correctly, you will see a difference in fights.

<DIV>Where are people getting all these Master and Adept 2+ spells from? I barely get Adept1's and I have to buy those off the market for rediculous prices.</DIV>
