View Full Version : Is 2h hammer a useful weapon for an inquis?

After spending another 3 hours reading up lore, I decided I want to await the influence of The Tribunal and follow their ways. However, being a swashbuckler, that just doesn't make much sense. I'm looking for a class who I can sort of model after The Tribunal, as such, use a two handed hammer. How well would a 2hhammer hold up for soloing? For grouping? For the Battlecleric AA line? (Currently at work and cannot look in game for the weapon relations of AA lines)Further suggestions on going inquisitor for this idea, or suggetions of another class that would fit more appropriately?<div></div>

The twohanded hammer works nicely for soloing with a battle cleric spec. they have a fairly good damage range and well.. <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> With that 100% crit, whee! Plus, the line which will give you 100% crits also have a skill (CA) that requires a 2handed hammer.

<P>Not to mention, one of the best bucklers in the game for us gives what? 370ish protection? That dont add up to much. The only thing you lose when going 2hd hammer or staff is some extra stats for items in the secondary slot. And if your soloing, then you can definately use the extra dps from the aboved mentioned crits and CA from the sta line.</P> <P>Now for non solo work, I always go for the 1handers and use the secondary for something like the stein of flowing Ichor or some other nice stat rich item just for the additional increases. And if I have to melee in a group, I will most times use the buckler for the added protection and stats it offers. But thats just my take on things.</P> <P>Give several set-ups a try and go with what you like best. Thats really what matters is what works best for you and your situation.</P><p>Message Edited by Kadurm on <span class=date_text>01-28-2007</span> <span class=time_text>11:11 PM</span>

<DIV>The only time I actually use a buckler is when Im tanking. Gives me about 5% avoidance. Going from 15 to 20 is a 33% increase. Other than that, I wail my twohander all the time. (Except when some annoying scout realized my [I cannot control my vocabulary] is made of titanium and theirs is being nicely roasted and turns and run, then I follow them and blast away with a wand.)</DIV>

<DIV>Oh yes. . . love my 2H weapons.  I use the 1H + Buckler of Blight for the slight healing bump it offers while on raids, but mostly I'm on my 2H flail with the yummy stats.  Unless I'm wanting to thrown really big (though slow) numbers around and pull out my Blackscale Maul. . . .</DIV>

I like the Blackscale 2-handed for when I'm up against easier mobs whether its solo, group, or raiding.  When I'm up against tougher mobs such as named opponents or tougher raid zones I normally switch back to the more traditional healer/debuffer role and forego any DPS action. I carry two or three different one-handed weapons due to various buffs, mits, or attributes on the weapons. I have one crummy little one-handed staff, for example, solely because it gives +700 to heat resists which is useful in Deathtoll. I know it will go against the grain but I'm pretty excited to start working on the battle priest line of the Inquisitor AA and see how that works in raids right after I max out the first three debuffs in the detriment line.

I keep 3 two handers on me for fun.- Blackscale hammer for fun high hits if im bored.- Hammer off vyemm, forget the name. Adorned. Good solo item.- Hammer off the last mob in nizari, which i disco'd ww =) adorned. The last two are the ones I use soloing. The nizari hammer has a stun proc. Yaulp on, the adornment on the weapon helps, then it also opens up that hammer smite move from your cleric aa line which if you did what normal people do you should have. Hammer smite is nice, knockdown the mob, give you a chance to toss your quick reactive. But two handed hammer is the way to solo imo.

Also, if you can find armor or equipment that buffs your haste you might want to consider that as well.  At the higher levels there are gloves called "Gauntlets of Glorious Speed' which has a 22% haste buff along with some resists on them.  With Yaulp, those gloves, and fanaticism my haste can go as high as 95% which drops the delay of the 2-hander Blackscale to a little over four seconds.  Perfect for those raids or mobs where healing isn't needed that much.

<DIV>sometimes soe changes the rule on items but generaly yes debuffs are hostile spell  as opposed to attack spells.  i think no inq is complete without tarinax 2h what a better weapon to have than a grim reaper <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> still waiting for mine tho...havent seen it in months of killing the guy i use vrak claw club atm used to look like a baseball bat but they nerfed the graphic <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

The  blackscale is not good for :- his delay , wont help much on draining power- his stats : no Str on it , the big int bonus wont help on CAs. but it's a good dps . I would rather incite to use the Velium  warhammer/battlerhammer  with better dps. Or the awakened battle thing mace with the heal proc. Actually , i m using  Buckler of blight , darkened gauntlets ,  Yvy Orb of tunare , plunged chitin spauldrons and some other str items.- buckler of blight : thinking to swap with badge of security from MMC , 5,8% block, some defense bonus and pretty good stats- Darkened gauntlets , chainmail ok but very good mitig , 25 % haste , and  Str  bonus on it - Yvy orb of tunare ,  hammer 1 hand => skull crack , 68,4 dps not that bad, and Str again on it (i still wait for the slow proc ) - the spauldrons for the +23 str on them the signet from dark and light is a mandatory ring, help a looottt to solo ( on the named 62 in acad, it healed me and nuked for 7 K ish...)I consider swapping the awakened ring for a  T7 rare ring ,with 23 str and dps proc on it . For that i tested so far, the huge loss of wisdom is good for the dmg i get on CA with the Str i gain in exchange. But all that is good for those soloing with Battlecleric line.   Hehehe , yes, if u still use spells to fight, then max int is still good.Ymrir,70 inqui befallen<div></div>

I might be wrong, but i think I read here in some other post that int boosts the damage of the dot effects of our CA's<div></div>

<P>I use 2hb whenever I'm solo, or really don't need to frantically heal.  I use the Hammer of Dragonborn, which I like far better myself over the bsm.</P> <P>That gives me about 500-1300 dps depending on encounter.  Really helps to shame the dps into actually doing something when I show up on the top of the parse <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></P> <P>For raid and very tough group encounters I go for the 1hb,buckler.  Far less dps, but I like the regen (pris 2.0) and the stats from buckler.  </P>

If you use battle cleric line, INT has become your throwaway stat unless you have a ton of item procs.

<DIV>Int does affect the Damage Over Time section of the inquis Combat Arts. Gaining 25 int boosted the DoT on strike of flames by 5-6 per tick on my toon.</DIV>

Well, tbh even with item procs it's not worth it. Max out your STR imo, int should only be there if its on a piece anyway..

I'm currently wielding my Awakened Stormwind Battle Mace, and I find that the heal proc is more useful for soloing than the increased DPS from using the Blackscale Maul. As an aside, I was wondering what would be the best T7 Adornments for these two hammers? I believe the Phantom Shod, which procs a mana tap, would work well on Battle Mace, because I solo with that equipped most of the time. But I'm not sure which adornment would maximally increase my DPS when using the Blackscale Maul.  There are a series of 1/min proc items for 180ish damage and some effect or I've also seen a straight +12 Damage, but I think the swing speed is too slow to see enough of an effect from it. There was also an adornment for 20 Haste; While this may be the best, I'm unclear on Adornment Haste/Item Haste stacking issues; which is made worse now because I can't even look it up on these forums.  Anyways, I would appreciate any insight provided. <p>not sure what all the good 2hnders are at the t7 lvls but for the 40-late 50's </p><p>Archons great flail or even better the ROYAL great flail along with good babblte creric setup but w/o neglecting int is some serious pain infliction </p>
